Best of the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a smoking deal on this and I was very content! My wife actually insisted in getting the tv which never happens!!! So that's a big plus, I also was waiting for the prices to drop and we picked it up although we weren't in the market but boy was this a steal. Vida at Davenport Florida helped us out and she helped us with the whole transaction and she even recommended a better router that we had which was an amazing investment. The hdr on this is phenomenal and I am still in awe. I now want a new AV receiver but we opted to hold off and mount this bad boy up our self which was a breeze! Definitely recommend!!!

Warped screen, laggy home screen, uneven backlight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As with any person spending this much on an electronic purchase, I reviewed almost every tv looking for 240hz and full backlight. Unfortunately both things are very hard to come by nowadays (as I have loyally purchased Sony tvs for the past decade). However, I settled on this tv due to the raw numbers and incredible contrast in the store. What I was looking for: - The darkest darks, the brightest brights. - No ghosting, shadows, or burnt edges into the image - Quick buffering, no shuddering, strong built-in WiFi support for 4K since I have 300mbps connection. Pros: - Has the brightest and most authentic colors I've seen when comparing against Samsung, Vizio, and LG flagship tvs - Great looking, thin tv - Home navigation options and layout - Voice activated remote and overall remote layout work great - Integrated WiFi works quite well for streaming large files and buffering 4K content Cons: - TV was warped in the top middle so it has a slight curve to it. Read other reviews this happens during manufacturing. - If YouTube or another app takes longer than 10 seconds to load a video, it restarts the tv - TV doesn't always respond to the remote quickly and has 2 - 3 seconds delay or have to repeatedly press the same button - The mounting bracket is quite low on the tv so if you had a VESA mounting bracket in the past in the middle of your tv, it could expose the bottom half or be quite top heavy - When displaying black, you can see lighter swipe marks where I believe the backlight was pushed into place. It looks like a light paint strokes throughout the screen. - Above the logo and edges, there is a lighter display due when the screen was pressed in. Other: - The Bravia Sync functionality is limited as it doesn't natively support many audio systems. ARC HDMI was easy to setup but I ultimately ended up dropping it because of the conflict it caused with a universal remote (which was eventually corrected just would like it to be more intuitive). - Doesn't consistently power on with Harmony remote. This could be a Logitech error but I have noticed several times where it takes a few presses on the tv remote to power it on as well. I want to love this tv as I own several Sony products; however, if I would have noticed most of these things within the 30 day return window, I would have returned it.

Lovely TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did quite a bit of research before buying the Sony. I wanted a TV that had optimal back lighting. My friends talked me out of the Vizio products. I find the picture quality of the Sony to be very good and the colors to be excellent. My biggest complaint is not with the TV, but with finding 4K content to play on the TV. It was my birthday when I bought the TV so I got 10% off an already low price because of it being Superbowl week. I paid about 1650 for this TV when it regularly sells for 2200. I think I got a steal!

We absolutely love this TV.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent several weeks researching the top rated 65" 4K - Ultra HD TV's before deciding to buy a Sony. Then I researched and read reviews on both the Sony 850D and the 930D. The contrast, improved clarity and brightness on the 930D with (Extended Dynamic Range) made it worth the higher price. This is the best TV we have ever purchased. We could not be happier with it.

Best TV Ever Owned
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchases this 4K TV online, checked it out once in person, and was by no means disappointed. The TV was fairly easy to transport, setup, and program. The color, sounds, and resolution are fantastic. It also works quite well with 3D movies. I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to buy a new 4K TV

Great picture, great TV, Sony ecosystem trouble
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is overall a great TV. Size is perfect for our space, and the picture is fantastic. Coming from a plasma, I really appreciate the contrast and how deep the black color is on this TV. Having android TV built in has been great and saved us from buying another Roku. I love the integration with google music and the huge artist pictures that show up when streaming. That being said, the Sony ecosystem is a little finicky. We bought this with the Sony - 2.1-Channel Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer and Digital Amplifier and a Sony BDP-S1500 Refurbished Blu-Ray Player with Wired Streaming. When the sound bar and the television were first unboxed, they worked together beautifully. I then had to unplug the TV to move it to a different place on the surge protector we were using to accomodate the blu-ray player, and everything went bad quickly. The blu ray no longer got any sound, the sound bar would not work with the TV, just all kinds of problems. We called the Sony customer service number and they were great, got it all working again...for a few days. We then gave up and decided to factory reset the TV, sound bar, and blu ray player and start from scratch. Has been a while now with no issues. Overall I love this setup and this TV, I just wish we hadn't had so many problems getting all the Sony stuff to work together correctly. However, now that it is all set up I think it is worth every penny.

Initial Impressions - after one month of ownership
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has three issues that, to me, prevent it from getting five stars. 1. Every maybe one or two dozen times I try to turn it on (power button on the included Sony remote), it won't turn on, I have to pull the plug and then plug it back in to get it to start. I've resorted to plugging it into a power supply that kills the power when I turn it off...at least this way it always turns on, but the trade off is you wait for the TV to boot up. 2. The remote stops responding every so often, you have to wait, almost like an old slow computer, give it maybe 15 or 20 seconds and it starts to respond. I've only noticed this behavior when going thru menus and channel surfing. 3. There is a weird refresh thing that happens on faces in movies (OTA TV isn't affected), like the face is being processed differently and the X1 chip has a lag in processing whatever it is doing. There might be a way around this but nothing I've tried has worked, I'll have to search the AVS forums. Oh, this is only when you have close ups of the actor's face. Outside of these issues, it is a beautiful TV to look at even when off, all HD and 4K content is amazing. The colors are far better than my last Bravia TV. I keep checking for a firmware update hoping that might be the fix but still nothing. Keep in mind, I was looking for perfection.

Great bang for the buck
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's not the latest OLED, but it's half the price and proven tech, solid. Great image quality and unless you are an av-phile, the view angle, color depth, and black is the best I've seen for this price range. Streaming media has issues as it will on any device, particularly in dark scenes with a fine gradient of light to dark...such as in the movie Arrival. Wide stepping of the gradient is obvious and distracting..but again, it's streaming from the net, albeit we have it wired to 300Mbps Time Warner RoadRunner, it's still the net. The wireless 5G or 2.4, worked out of the box and flawlessly. Cable rocks. Using our PS4 and an 'ok' blueray player, the gradient issue does not exist, when the screen goes dark, we cannot see our hands in front of our faces. Color is rediculously configurable, I don't touch it (set to cinema in general) and switch to game mode for sports using the sports button on the home page. Sound is of course meh, so invest in a sound bar if you need a cinema or stadium experience. I give it four and 7/8 stars...Five stars if the interface (home screen in particular) was more configurable...it's configurable, but falls just short of what I would consider "advertisement free" and convenient. Screen mirroring from our devices is just awesome. Great job Sony, I'll go another 5-10 years before buying an OLED...unless we win the lottery.

Q: QuestionDoes the Sony 930D have issues with overheating? I was in a Best Buy story and the back of the Sony 930D was extremely hot but the back ot he comparable Samsung and LG TVs were not hot at all.
Asked by Supersonic.
- A:Answer The X930 uses a new backlighting system that uses more light tracks to make a better dynamic range, no other TV (other than full array TVs) will have the same dynamic range, this makes the TV run hotter due to more light tracks

Q: QuestionDo you need to purchases 3d glasses to watch in 3d?
Asked by sporty.
- A:Answer The 3D crosstalk on the 65" model is very bad, making most 3D movies unwatchable. Keep this in mind if you purchase 3D glasses.

Q: QuestionDoes the sony-XBR-X939D Series 65 Class support : Netflix, Hulu, Amazon
Asked by Papillon.
- A:Answer Sony issued a firmware update for this TV yesterday that added HDR support for Netflix (only title with HDR now appears to be Marco Polo, but the list will grow) The Amazon Prime app has had HDR support from day 1. 4K streaming from either app is excellent, 1080 upscaling is excellent. Netflix app supports 5.1 channel sound, but I can only get 2 channel sound from the Amazon Prime app (called tech support and 'they're working on it', but no promises). Remote has a dedicated Netflix button, perhaps when they get a dedicated Amazon Prime button, support will be equivalent ;-)

Q: QuestionDoes this XBR X930D Sony TV has the simulated 3D effect for 2D pictures function?
Asked by david20170.
- A:Answer No it does not, and the 3D crosstalk on the 65" 930D makes most 3D movies unwatchable. See the Sony Community site for the various complaints on the 65" 3D crosstalk issue (so far, doesn't look like Sony plans on fixing this issue).
