Great device!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this thing! It has Android Auto (and supposedly CarPlay, which I can't test because I don't have an iPhone) which operates via cord only. The BlueTooth is ONLY for audio, and works very reliably. Screen brightness is excellent and touchscreen is responsive, though it shows finger marks easily when the car is turned off. I really wanted a unit with a volume knob, but in absence of that, the "Volume Up'" and "Down" arrows are extremely clear, and I do not anticipate my older parents having trouble figuring it out. Note that Android Auto technology does not allow you to play Netflix or other movie apps, and this is for safety reasons. I bought this open box in excellent condition (in a scramble during pandemic scarcity), and it lives up to the condition described. Free installation was included. Shout out to the installation team in Mountain View (El Camino/American Way). Thanks to my total ignorance and inability to read things closely, I originally bought a stereo with no Android Auto and they had to uninstall then replace it with this one after a couple of weeks. But they were kind, courteous, and extremely quick! Honestly I was pretty nervous that it might be a waste of money,/time/environmental resources to buy this. After all, I just drive a Toyota Prius 2011. But I have absolutely zero regrets, and it's improved my driving experience greatly.

decent but has some drawbacks...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.pretty functional unit. what you see is what you get. I have a few problems with CarPlay (I don't own an android, so haven't tested that) and this unit -- when using Maps + Phone, the unit freezes and you are unable to do anything until you unplug your phone. when driving, also, when you are playing music + doing another thing on CarPlay, the unit lags a little. the glare on the screen can impair your ability to see information (such as directions). microphone is ok -- sometimes picks up more background noise than I'd want it to. other than that, Sony did a great job creating a unit that is user-friendly, big screen, minimal lags (except on CarPlay) and overall functionality. bluetooth works great, OEM back-up camera installed flawlessly (Hyundai Elantra), sound quality is great too. the unit definitely refreshed my car and made it fun to drive again!

Excellent head unit for the money
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this head unit for my commuter vehicle. It's a beater so I didn't want anything super fancy, but I did want CarPlay for hands free operation. Couldn't be happier so far. My iPhone Xs Max connects via USB or Bluetooth with no issues. It also has no issues charging. The microphone has excellent sensitivity and all my call recipients have no complaints about the sound on their end. Interface is attractive, yet simple to use. One of the main reasons I chose this Sony unit over the competitors is because the control buttons are located on the bottom of the unit, and not the left side. I find this more easily accessible. Sound output to the factory speakers is excellent. Sounds like the audio system is awake for the first time. Couldn't be happier.

Great Car Stereo....Difficult Install!!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony 7" AVX-3000, I give it 5 stars, absolutely love the deck. Paired it with some JBL 6" X 8" speakers in my 2002 F150 and it ROCKS!! The down grade is because the fitment test from the Best Buy web site was not accurate (I can't blame Best Buy, another site said it would fit in my truck). I had to cut a bracket from the truck and do a lot of other "shaving" with my drivel to make it fit. I also had to "Frankenstein" bracket parts from 3 different kits to make it look good. It's in and I love it, I just don'r think Sony has the dimensions accuarately represented for the AVX-3000. Operationally, it's great!!!! I wanted the Apple car play and read reviews of other devices that failed to switch back and forth from music to phone.....not an issue with the AVX-3000. It also plays my SIRIUS XM and Amazon Music. And the navigation works great!!!!

Works very well
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant on getting a radio with Apple CarPlay features since I am not very familiar with it. However, this unit has exceeded my expectations. Apple CarPlay works super easily and the sound of the radio is excellent on my 2005 Toyota Matrix (with stock speakers!) We tried Android Auto but did not work as well, so just a heads up if you purchase this for Android Auto. The radio worked very well as well. One small note is that the screen will have glare and will get fingerprints so be prepared for that. Other than that, I’m very happy with this radio purchase

The sound quality is amazing
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So when I got this it doubled the sound in my car I have a stock speaker system with a Memphis 2 channel amp pushing 300 watts rms its powering a 12 inch jlw3v3 the cons for some reason the installer didn't fix the dim on the unit so it is super bright at night also you have to spend roughly $200 to use your steering wheel controls and a box for the subwoofer have no idea what the box does overall I'm happy with the purchase just wish I could fit something bigger than 7 inches in the dash

Q: QuestionI am very confused about the model number to this unit. I can't this AX3000 model anywhere else or even on Sony's website... is this the same as the AX5000? I am wondering if this a Best Buy exclusive item? I wonder if the AX5000 firmware would work?
Asked by Modelnumber.
- A:Answer Seems almost the same as ax5000, the 3000 has resistive screen instead of capacitive screen on the 5000. 5000 has 2 usb inputs where 3000 only has one. I've been happy with the screen on the 3000 so far, though.

Q: QuestionI’m about to have this installed tomorrow. I have 16’ Outlander that comes with a navigation. My question is can I still use the usb port of my car or can they connect to the headunit to make it work?
Asked by Jay.
- A:Answer They could not in my case. Had to run a new USB. I was pretty disappointed in my Best Buy installers over all. Been back 4 times to have stuff fixed or adjusted. Steering wheel controls still do not work and they do not care.

Q: QuestionWhat all is needed for installation?
Asked by tambam.
- A:Answer Depends on what you drive, whether or not you have an existing system, etc. I took my '04 Dodge Ram by the store, spoke directly with the tech installer, told him what I wanted. He guided me to this radio, and I am very happy with it. I had to have a new face plate, microphone, co-ax cables, usb cable. Very affordable and all arrived to me in about one week. Instead of trying to figure it out just go by the store, so much easier that way.

Q: QuestionWill this work with my steering wheel controls in my 2011 Silverdao?
Asked by Hank.
- A:Answer When we purchased it in store, they asked if we wanted it to be steering wheel compatible. You need to purchase another part, and it requires more money for labor costs. We skipped on that service for now, since the labor to install the stereo was free as a promotion. We also figured we could install it ourselves - it should just a matter of buying the correct harness and plugging it in.
