Q: What’s the difference between Sony A7 iv, Sony A7 iv r, and Sony A7v r? Also does the Sony A7v R have a internal video recording time limit like the Sony A7 iii ?

A: Sony A7 series has 3 lines of products: 1) A7 R: stands for RESOLUTION which focuses on high-resolution stills photography 2): A7 S: stands for SENSITIVITY which focuses on low-light performance and videography 3): A7: that's a hybrid machine right in the middle with ok resolution and decent video capabilities. Technically both R and S are specialty series that are half a tier higher than A7 itself geared toward professionals which is reflected in its higher price points, and typically the latest top-end cameras don't have the software limit anymore meaning there is no more video recording limit anymore as long as the machines don't physically overheat. Currently, the S series is at A7S Mark3 the third-gen, while R is already in A7R Mark 5 which is the fifth-gen, while a7 itself is at 4th gen which is A7 Mark 4. Thus the names A7S3, A7R4, A7R5 and A74.

Q: Does this camera can recording 8k videos?

A: yes its support 8k but need spicel sd card

    Great Hybrid! Love it!

Choosing the A7R V in 2025 felt like the most obvious decision I’ve ever made, yet somehow the hardest. Obvious because I’m already neck-deep in Sony glass, and jumping ship would’ve cost me a small fortune. Hard because the competition is fierce and the “no open gate”. The 61-megapixel sensor is ridiculous, in the best way. Downsampled 4K from 8K oversampling looks cleaner than most cameras shoot natively. Skin tones are creamy, detail in landscapes is great. The AF is the same monster system as the A1/A7S III now, sticky doesn’t even begin to describe it. About that open gate drama… yeah, I get it. 3:2 open-gate would simplify a lot of vertical deliverables and future-proof things even more. But honestly? I’m already drowning in 8K RAW files that eat SSDs for breakfast. Adding open-gate would probably send me to therapy. The 16-bit RAW video files from this thing are already comically large; I’d need a second mortgage for storage if Sony gave us full-sensor readout at 8K. So while open gate would be nice in theory, I’m secretly relieved they didn’t do it. My NAS thanks them. Ergonomics are peak Sony now. The new flip-out screen is perfect, the best. If you’re a resolution junkie, love punching into 8K timelines like it’s 4K, or just want future-proof stills from your video camera, the A7R V is an absolute weapon. Btw, does well in low-light. Attached photo, light was coming from 1 side of the building - iso was set 12,800

Superb camera, incredible Auto focus and detail.

I have waited for the perfect camera, and when a7RV was announced, going through the specs it seemed that maybe the wait was over. Well, now that I have had a chance to use it, I can definitely say the camera met and exceeded all my expectations. What a beast of a camera. AF is spot on, even with my dogs running full speed, the images are incredible and the 61 MP means even when you crop, the image is still good enough to blow to poster size. I can’t find a single negative thing to say having taken a good 5000 pictures so far. Superb.

Brings the shock and awe factor to level 11

Awesome upgrade from a7iii. Back tilt/swivel screen, high resolution EVF, stunning dynamic contrast, cropability with 61MP makes for great editing in post, image stabilization especially with an OSS Sony lens makes this purely fun to shoot on, autofocus is simply brilliant. Sony makes some incredible gear Sadly my jpegs are quite larger than 10MB for uploading some examples, lol
