Simply AMAZING sound quality!

These headphones are simply amazing! The sound quality is superior! Super heavy bass but it doesn't drown out the mids and highs. Super comfortable ear buds. I dont have to worry about them falling out while being active. I got these to replace my Klipsch S4's because the bass wasnt very strong and didnt stay in my ears very well. I only listen to electronic music, mostly drum n bass, breakbeat, and dubstep with a little bit of trance, electro and happy hardcore thrown in. These headphones keep up with a wobbly basslines where others fail. They pick up the deepest of basslines, while staying crisp and clear. I have gone through many, many headphones and these have to be some of the best sounding buds I have tried. I think they are a little bit on the expensive side but totally worth every penny. The out perform other buds at the same price level and some above. They come with 3 pairs of noise isolating replacement buds and 3 pairs of regular. Sony has never let me down in sound quality. I highly suggest these!

I have been on a mission to find a good set of buds for under 100$.
I have been using klipsch s-4's for a few months, they are pretty good except for the cord noise, it is horrid, every little brush against your clothing is heard.
I purchased the senheiser adidas sport, the sound quality was there, the cord design left a lot to be desired. It is a two piece cord with a huge volume control on the second half, the short half is to short and has a straight plug. I like to wrap the excess around my Ipod and carry it in my shirt pocket, it would hardly fit in my pocket with the volume control.
I returned them and went with a pair of Bose IE2's. The Bose were about 20$ more and I expected a step up in all aspects, Didn't happen. The Bose were not as good as either the sen's or the klipsch. In a nutshell don't bother with the Bose, they don't exactly suck but they are close to it.
I returned the Bose and went with these Sony's. FINALLY found what I was looking for, Great all around sound with a lot of bass and comfortable. I especially like the behind the neck cord for the right side, keeps it from getting snagged on things and yanked out of your ear and when you need to pull them out they just hang there ready to go.
The hybrid ear tips are a nice addition as well, they seem to fit a bit tighter, and bring out a bit more bass, and there are four different sizes instead of the standard three that all the others come with.
Best set for under 100$ hands down.

Best value @ $100?

Are these the best in-ear headphones you can buy at $100? VModa makes a killer set at $20 less and Klipsch makes a great pair at $100 although, apparently they break very easy. But the Sony's are superior to the Beats By Dre in terms of comfort and rounded EQ. The Sony's don't have the boomies bass on the market in this price range, but the bass response is tighter than the VModas (more) and the Bose (much less and, by the way -- the Bose doesn't noise cancel, sort of a big deal in NYC), but at high decibels the mids can get a little tinny, a problem that is more prevelant on Bose. All in all though, the mids and highs are more dynamic than the Beats. I would say these might sound second behind the Klipsch in terms of best sounding headphones at $100 or less, but if you broaden your budget out to $300 this is easily a top 3 or 5 choice. In terms of in-ear design, these are about as comfortable as you can get. The behind the neck design makes it PERFECT for running. These headphones won't make you jump and down with gushing joy, but they are highly satisfying all the same.

One of the Best Sub $100 Headphones

Before I owned these Sony headphones, I had the last year's model which was the Sony MDR-EX300LP. I was very satisfied with the sound that came out of those. The day it broke, I instantly did some research and found these, which is the successor to that model. Since I liked the sound that came out of past Sony headphones, these headphones did not disappoint.
Overall, my last impression of my previous headphones still stands with these. They sound fantastic. The bass was defined but not overpowering while the mid's and high's are tuned to any genre of music. Make sure that you get a good fit in your ear so that the bass resonates nicely in your ear. Good thing the package comes with several eartips and sizes. I must say that the high's are a little too tingy for my taste, but with the combination of deep resonant base and balanced mids, I got used to it.
One of the reasons I like these over the last model is that they include a set of hybrid silicone/foam eartips for even more sound isolation. If you don't like these tips, you still receive the regular silicone eartips as well. It also includes a cable wrap and a not-so-travel-friendly carrying pouch.
One of the cons, which may be just preference, is that these updated headphones are much bigger than the previous model. It should be noted that when you put these earbuds into your ear, it is noticeable. It's comfortable... but noticeable.
For some, the cable might be too thin. They have made improvements though to the durability between the cable and the earbuds themselves by adding reinforced rubber near the earbuds.
Out of all the headphones I own, these are my favorite. These are pretty much the standard I go for in terms of sound quality and clarity. I have tried and compared the Klipsch S4 to these headphones, and I find that the Sony headphones are a little more defined in terms of sound. However, if you are a fan of sound like the Shure models, you might want to consider the Klipsch headphones over these. If you are looking for great headphones under a $100, these Sony headphones are tough to beat.

After several solid years of use my $100 Shure earbuds stopped working properly. I immediately started researching online for a replacement pair and decided on the Klipsch s4's. I headed to the local Best Buy and picked up a pair for $80. I went straight home to audition them and was a bit disappointed. They seemed a bit flimsy and the sound quality was lacking. The bass was deep and solid, but the mid range left the vocals underrepresented, and the highs were harsh and fatiguing. I proceeded to break them in by continuously playing music through them for 72 hours to give them a chance to grow on me. This helped slightly, but I still felt the mid range kept the vocals overly subdued and the highs were still a bit edgy. I decided to return to Best Buy and exchange them for the Sony MDR-EX310LP's. Once again I headed straight home to give them a try and WOW did these babies surprise me!! The bass was similarly deep and solid like the Klipsch but everything else was much better! The mid range was smoothe and warm and brought out vocals beautifully. The highs were crisp, clean, and precise. For $80 I think these are a great value and the best sub $100 earbuds I have heard. Way to go Sony!

Better than the Klipsch S4's

These are quite possibly the best earbuds in the sub $100 range. Everything about them is very nice. Build quality is great, highs and mids are very clear and balanced and the bass is rich and deep. I would consider myself an audiophile as I'm very picky about how my headphones sound. I've owned the S4's and loved them but took them back to try the sony's out and haven't looked back. The S4's are great, but the Sony buds take the cake when it comes to highs and mids. The bass response is about the same on both sets of buds which is why I love these Sony's. My only gripe is the cord is kinda weird and takes a little while to get used to because of how sony designed it, but it's not really a con. I highly recommend these.

I bought these to replace my older headphones that broke. These are very comfortable, I can wear them for over 8 hours without causing any soreness in my ears. They sound quality is excellent. These have a bigger driver than most in-ear headphones around the same price. They come with 4 sizes of standard ear tips & 3 sizes of ear tips which have a foam lining for extra noise reduction. The only drawbacks on these for me is the asymmetrical cord is a little annoying sometimes & makes it a little difficult to put them in their included case. Also, the cord seems a bit thin, but I've had these for almost 2 months & no issues with that so far. I would definitely recommend these if you are looking for a pair of great sounding headphones under $100.

I went to my local store yesterday with the intent of buying some skullcandy titan metal buds. When they didn't have any I started looking around and came across these sony's. I took a chance on them after seeing the larger driver they have vs cheaper units. I wasn't disappointed with the sound quality. Clear highs, mids and a smooth bass without being overwhelming or boomy. The sound is exactly what I was looking for. I listen to symphonic metal, ambient and classical and clarity of sound is very important to me and these units deliver. The chord however is uneven with one side being much longer than the other. My other gripe is the cord is very thin and to me doesn't appear very durable so I deducted a star for it. The way the earbuds rest in your ears is unique without requiring you to push them into your ear canals. If you turn your head to the side they will fall out so you don't want to use them while sleeping. All in all I don't regret spending the money for these units but I hope that sony will improve upon them.
A:AnswerSony aren't bad in general but they do have some low end. I would suggest the Sennheiser brand. I have the cx 475 and the wires don't get hard and stiff like the sony's.
