Great, low-cost device to introduce digital artist

I purchased a refurbished model from Best Buy, both as work computer for marketing tasks and light photoshopping, and also for on-the-go sketching (I'm a webcomic artist) and to introduce myself to N-Trig tablets, as I've been a Wacom baby my whole digital artist life. $400 was a great price for all of that. The pentium makes it too laggy to run the Artrage program that came with the computer (I don't know if it comes with all machines or just the BB Geek Squad ones), but slip Wintab on this thing and Paint Tool SAI works lovely.
Technology wise, this is basically a Surface Pro 3 with a much lesser processor. I was able to get a lot of online help with the stylus by searching my problems in Surface Pro 3 forums. Best Buy forgot to ship the stylus with my device so they reimbursed me the funds to buy a Surface pen from a nearby store. It works the same. If you don't like how the original pen feels, any N-Trig duo-sense pen will work (I need to thank the reviewer who mentioned this in the Q and A, but the product is now gone from the site)..
For artists: You will need to press the pen down pretty hard to get a decent stroke on the canvas. I had a friend try a hand at this machine but he draws so lightly that his sketching strokes barely registered on the screen. Also, the side and top buttons are app specific. You can click a sidebutton and tap down for a right click, but those buttons are otherwise useless to almost every program you probably use. If you are a dedicated Wacom user who makes constant use of the eraser, side buttons and 1000+ levels of pressure sensitivity, you will be crying and probably screaming during the first several or several dozen times you use this or the Surface Pro 3 (or any N-Trig device). If you want to adapt to this or have no choice, it becomes more comfortable to use over time. Just make sure you see the pen cursor on the screen before you rest your palm down.
The trackpad is super sensitive, but there is an off switch for that on the keyboard. I turn it on briefly for clicking on things that i have a hard time with via pen/touch, then turn it back off.
The screen is such a fingerprint magnet. A microfiber cloth works best on cleaning that up easily.
Overall, this machine has been an amazing find. If you need a portable device for social networking and drawing with mild-intensity software, I recommend this. There are more powerful versions of this device that can fully compete with the Surface Pro 3 AND it actually comes with a keyboard.

I would write to you so I came to Brazil, when I discovered the default keyboard, but the hectic routine prevented me from doing this. So I am happy that you have come in contact with me;
When I turned on the laptop I realize that the keyboard was not working, but figured it was out of battery. As soon as I arrived in Brazil, I took charge, but still did not work. The two keyboard lights flash, but nothing else happens.
What should I do? I settle into some technical assistance from Sony, or you solve?
Again, Thank you for the contact, and sorry for bad english, but the google translator helped me ...
I await your response.
Goodbye

At $399 a much better choice than Bay Trail. The Pentium CPU provides at least the same experience for Windows 8 apps, Office, Web and Email. But this has a 128GB FAST SSD, not the slow 32/64GB memory on a Bay Trail. And a great 1080P display as well. In the thinnest form factor for a 10/11 inch device, and a keyboard included.
To be sure, this is not going to win a contest with an I5 when it comes to intensive CPU tasks, but I have a desktop PC for that. The keyboard is not a rival for a Thinkpad, but at this price who else is even including a keyboard at all?
I don't think you can go wrong with this, I am very happy with the Tap 11.

This is a great value for the money. It was originally priced at $800, but I got it refurbished for $400. It has 4GB of RAM and a 128GB solid state hard drive - you can't find a comparable tablet/PC anywhere near that price.

I found the product to be very good but can't give it 5stars due to refurbisment being very poor. Could not stay connected to Internet even though all my other equipment did. I have had Vaios for many years, I only wish this had been properly refurbished!

It's great for a small laptop. Windows operating system doesn't work properly sometimes. Being refurbished screen acts up may need to send in for repairs.
A:AnswerIt sound like the stylus is hit or miss. Please see my post to another reviewers review. Any N-Trig stylus will work including HTC Flyer or Surface pro 3 stylus. Surface Pro 1, 2 Stylus(s) are not compatible.
A:AnswerThis tablet does not have a SIM slot as it is not intended for use with a cellular network. A Maps app is available for Windows 8 for GPS services.
A:AnswerYes, you can install Microsoft Word on this laptop. It will depend specifically on the version of Word you have and what other programs you have installed, but this laptop has enough capacity to hold even the newest version of Word as it is being sold.
