Q: how good is the bass i want a portable speaker with loud bass
A: Bass is great. I like the extra bass most of the time.
Q: How loud is this? Is it a lot louder than the volume of an IPhone ?
A: Louder than your mother.
A: Mine doesn't do that at 50% battery charge. However, the sound quality deteriorates at few minutes before the battery is completely discharged.
Q: When I play my music it scratches and disconnects why?

Q: How does this speaker compare to the Harmon Kardon onyx 4 in sound quality/volume?
A: Hello Nate426. I love both speakers, the harmon bass is off the chain. If you love bass than this is the speaker for you. Now the Sony has bass but the clarity in the music ,you can hear violins, guitars and keyboards clearly. It depends on what song is playing on the Sony where the bass comes across really good even with the extra bass button. I've purchased 4 Sony X40 and 2 Harmon bluetooth speakers. Its your preference on how you listen to music. But as I said I love both. I hope this helps
