For the price they are great
||Posted .They are a little more bassey than I like for books and such but for music they are perfect. I wish there was a bass on bass off button but all in all these perform very well. They have been comfortable to wear and you can rotate the ear cups off your ears easily when you need break. I always worry about the link between the ears and the headband so in every case time will tell. I have learned that the quality of construction has little to do with price as my sons $300 headphones have broken and been sent back at least once and I do not think they will be like my old Sony high end headphones that lasted me 28 years. If you like to hear that bass in music and do not want to spend much these are awesome. I do not think I would use them in the studio.

Decent for the price
||Posted .Bought this headphone when it had a small discount on it for about I think 5-10 bucks off around 50-60 bucks total. I bought this cuz all of my previous headphones were ear buds that stopped working after a while probably due to it being stuffed in my pocket constantly with the wires being bent and all that. You definitely can't do that to a on-ear headphone. I didn't get much sweat from wearing it too long. Headphone legs can stretch out to fit any head size. Sound is decent but you just have to set the audio setting and sound quality scroll bars to get it to sound the way you want. It also has a call button where you can press it to answer phone calls instead of pulling out your phone to do that while driving. The only negative thing so far would be that after wearing these headphones for about 2+ hours straight, my ears started to get sore. But other than that, it's decent for it's price point.

Surprisingly good
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I needed a pair of replacement headphones for a business trip in December after I left my noise-canceling headphones on the flight home from my vacation in October. Having put noise-canceling headphones on my Christmas wish list, I wanted to grab something relatively inexpensive that could hold me over until after the holidays. These headphones exceeded my expectations. For a pair of unpowered headphones, these have some nice bass output. While they don't have any active noise-canceling system, they still did a good job of damping down the ambient noise on the flights out & back. I still had to remove them in order to hear to the flight attendants and the PA announcements. They're comfortable and fold up nicely. I watched episodes of TV shows on both flights and everything sounded great; background music sounded great as well as the dialogue. I got a new pair of noise-canceling headphones like I asked, but I'm going to keep these as a backup pair and to use around the house occasionally.

Best headset I've owned.
||Posted .I have to admit that I didn't have high hopes for this headset. I purchased it out of need for a noise cancelling headset that offered a mic for calls. Unpacking them I noticed just how great the quality is. They have a refined feel and the comfort is outstanding. Sound quality is amazing and the bass levels are great. I love this headset and I"m now a fan of Sony headsets.

Great and affordable headphones
||Posted .I generally prefer Sony headphones overall just because they almost always sound better than most headphones on the market for the average consumer. I also own the Sony MDR XB950BT's but I wanted something to just throw in my backpack for short trips. You get a lot of bass for your buck with these headphones. They're on-ear headphones, which for me get annoying and hurt my ears after long periods of use. But not with these Sony's! The ear cups are a little bit larger than most on-ear headphones and the cushioning is very soft. They sound awesome too. Good bass and overall sound for almost all genres of music.

Sony still one of the best in the headphone game..
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Sony has kind of fallen a little backwards as more millennial-and-teen-oriented brands have come to the forefront; but they still make some of the best headphones out there (watch what you see the pros using on tv). If you listen to EDM or hip-hop, you will love these as the bass is thunderous-- you may even have to EQ some of it out. Good construction, quality headphone for 1/2 the price of Beats or any other mid-range headphone...

Great sound quality for the price
||Posted .The Sony Extra Bass Headphones have great sound quality for the price, but right out of the box I noticed the plastic felt cheap. The "Extra Bass" feature that they include in the title doesn't really hold up, but they still sound just fine. The cord is slightly short, so I wouldn't recommend for some studio type setup, but is perfect for on the go type situations. If you are looking for nice sounding cheap headphones, then you've come to the right place, but if you are a audiophile or an enthusiast of some sort, then you should probably look elsewhere, along the likes of Audio-Technica, Bose, and Sennheiser. (I don't mention Beats because, they sound great and feel nice, but for the same price of an overpriced pair of beats you can get something better.)

Q: QuestionHow are these compared to the Sony - Noise-Canceling Over-the-Ear Headphones - Black Link: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-noise-canceling-over-the-ear-headphones-black/8636734.p?skuId=8636734 Which should I get?
Asked by JollyRoger.
- A:Answer Hi JollyRoger, the two headphones have their own advantages. The headphone on the link you provided is geared for noise cancellation. It is for reducing unwanted ambient sound. The MDRXB550AP is all about the bass, it features Sony's Extra Bass technology which enhances all your low-end frequencies for deep, euphoric sound. Thanks, -Mark
