I bought myself the 15" MacBook Pro for Christmas, and while I have a zippered neoprene sleeve to protect it, I decided to buy a hard shell as well.
For the most part, this Speck case has high reviews, BUT I did notice some rather negative ones mixed in. The only reason I went ahead and purchased this was because it was on sale for $19.99 as opposed to $49.99, plus I had a $5 Reward certificate, and a small balance on a gift card. In total, I paid about $9.
And let me tell you, that's all this case is worth!
I cannot believe people would pay $50 for such a flimsy piece of plastic. But if you carry your Mac around like a status symbol, I suppose the name "Speck" in the lower left corner elevates your status further.
Installation is easy. Just snap the two pieces onto the bottom and the lid, and that's it. The packaging however seems to be sturdier than the product itself! Granted, no one wants to buy something that is overly bulky for a product that is known for its sleek design, but I just cannot get over the fact that this normally goes for $50!
I've had the case for about a month, and so far, no edges have broken off, the corners haven't chipped, etc. BUT, I have only been using it lightly around the house, not lugging it around class to class as a student. Buyer beware. Don't spend the $50, and you won't be too upset when it breaks.
