Great to have all 3 seasons in one
||Posted .Had been wanting to buy the original ST series for a while and knew for the 50th anniversary it might be re-released. On blu-ray, picture is great, audio not so much. In the first couple of episodes the audio seemed to cut in and out. Menus are a little hard to navigate from one episode to the other, but I do like the option of watching with or without the enhanced special effects. Packaging seems a little flimsy and barebones. Wish it could have been a little fancier considering this was a 50th anniversary release. But content is great, all the original episodes without commercials!

What's with the sound?
||Posted .I've been a huge fan of the original Star Trek series since my pre-teen years, and I bought the DVDs when they first came out. I was disappointed then because they didn't do any clean-up at all, they just straight transferred the old film to DVD. I'm much happier with the quality of this set. It looks great on my 4K TV. I like the versions with the updated special effects, although those fancy updates do tend to look a little out of place when they switch to the live action on those cheap 60's sets. What I didn't like was the audio - these are oddly quiet, especially for Blu-Rays. To hear the dialog I have to crank my speakers up to the point where they're hissing, and it's entirely annoying. Why put so much effort into the video and then put it out with terrible audio? I don't understand.

Great series and Great Collection
||Posted .Bought this on the feeling of nostalgia. The picture quality has been improved greatly. One thing too of notice there are two versions to each episode one that features the original picture and one that has enhanced features. Most of the enhanced features are overhauled CGI shots and sounds of the enterprise in space doing battle and flying around. After a few viewings I found it redundant and boring. there are some who may prefer the old way and those who prefer the cgi enhancement. Overall great series. Happy with my purchase.

Great to have original ST in one box!
||Posted .If you like the original series I recommend buying all of the seasons in one package. It's convenient for watching and selecting which episode you want to view. Each disc is labeled with the episodes. However, I would like this product better if you could select "watch all" episodes rather than choosing the next episode each time one ends.

Worth if for Trekkies
||Posted .I bought this but ended up purchasing this in the original packaging instead because it was cheaper for that version. Note that both versions are the same, but the packaging was updated with this and is more practical. Price being equal, I recommend getting this version. I have watched a few episodes and it is wonderful to see these again. I have watched them in both the original version and with the CGI added to it. There is a bit of nostalgia to watching these in the original version and it is nice to have these. I must admit, though, that the CGI versions are a huge upgrade and make these more enjoyable. I love how this was updated using CGI. It was done right. This is worth every penny for Trekkies who liked the original version.

Well done collection for any Star Trek fan!
||Posted .I grew up watching this series in black and white, and then after it went into syndication, grainy color. To see all these episodes in crystal clarity is just amazing. The added CGI I welcome and since I've seen the originals so many times before, it was nice to get a new take on some of the old effects. You can watch the episodes in either the original format, or in the enhanced format. You can even switch back and forth between the two while watching. A really amazing collection. Some people have posted that they don't care for the disc box the collection comes in, but I really like it. A really welcome addition for any Star Trek fan.

Must-Own for Any Sci-Fi Fan
||Posted .This series arguably contributed the most to what Sci-Fi is today. While the show is incredibly campy with effects that range from passable to downright lazy (the show was very low budget), the show is very enjoyable. You are also given the choice to watch each episode with its original effects or enhanced effects. From what I've seen, the only difference is the original shots of the Enterprise being replaced with CGI shots at completely different angles. Personally, I prefer the original effects. This is great place to start for those who want to hop on the Trekkie Train.

Great for those of us who remember original series
||Posted .OK .. I do remember when Star Trek (original) premiered so many decades ago .. and the only thing we had was a Black and White TV .. (Yes, folks .. those things existed .. we couldn't afford anything else) THIS was when there was no CGI, actors had to bring us into the story lines and everything was used in an effort to try to draw our imaginations in to fill in the details (and no gory 'gratuitous violence' necessary .. just story lines and the talent to make simple things appear 'otherworldly') The thing is this .. we dreamed of going to the stars .. and now there's far more than that (including planned missions to mars, satellites and space scopes viewing distant galaxies, etc that are showing the sci-fi of yesterday is the reality of today!) Get this for the memories .. yes, it is cliche, but a good kind of cliche at times ..
