Q: Are these compatible with the xbox one?
A: Partial compatibility with Xbox. I bought theses based on the answer being “yes...”. However, you do NOT get the full featured product if you use for Xbox. If you want to use the microphone, you have to use the mobile audio cable and plug it to your Xbox controller. By doing so, you lose all chat mixing, surround sound, and any other audio settings that you would normally have with pc or ps4...
A: Surround sound is a physics thing as well as a frequency tuning thing. It has Dolby impeded which is and always has been a frequency preset combined with physical placement of the source of the sound to simulates 7.1 surround. True surround sound is when youre in a room and have speakers all around you. Headsets, all headsets, cover your entire ear to simulation true surround sound, its the tuning of said headset that provides you with a Dolby affect. You can get this by getting any headset with a 10h - 40kh herts range and no less than 36ohms, downloading a frequency modifier app and tweeking the low frequencies to bass boost. use the surroundsound option which is available on pretty much every device in the sound settings. The feeling that you get from Dolby at the movie theater is caused by the frequencies and the speakers ability to smoothly transition and provide you with a seamless surround sound experience combined with the physical placement of the speakers. Congratulations, you just learned 4hrs worth of college credits.

A: Yes you can turn on 7.1 in the settings, good mic also u can have it fully extended to chin or tucked back in some, worked both ways for me.
A: They aren't very good at 3D sound. I tried installing Dolby Atmos with these and they were... Ok but not great. You have to get used to what front right, right, and back right sound like. It's not entirely intuitive to what you naturally expect to hear. Also above is nearly impossible to tell (but if you hear a helicopter then you can assume it's above) I also tried windows built in 3D software and still not great. Definitely better options exist on the market for the purpose of 3D sound specifically
