When the only review that I saw on this mouse was a poor one, I decided I should give this mouse a chance with an actual well written review. First off, when I first saw this mouse online, I was really excited. I had the original Rival and loved it. When my local store had it in stock, I jumped at the opportunity to own the new Rival 700. Initial impressions: this is a HEAVY mouse. I just retired my Mamba Tournament Edition and that guy was light. This one is definitely not going to be the mouse for everyone. I like have a bit more weight to it now for just the way I game. Pros: Very comfortable for both palm and claw grips. Easy to reach thumb buttons. Nice features of being able to replace the backplate and Rival plate. Apparently you can get a glossy finish and even 3d print a new plate to replace the Rival logo. Another really unique pro is the OLED screen. I thought it would just be a cheap gimmick but I find it quite fun. Right now, I have it set as a gif from the Dat Boi meme. Completely hilarious. Continuing with a few more pros: the SteelSeries Engine 3 software is very nice. Only thing I wish is being able to easily dim the LED lights, more on why in the cons. Very smooth on my Corsair mousepad, just a very nice well rounded mouse. Cons: I dont have very many cons against this mouse. The biggest thing I've noticed so far is the LED under the palm gets VERY warm, enough to cause your hand to start sweating. A simple slider to dim that LED would solve the issue but I'm stuck with just turning that one off. Is it troublesome enough to return? Not for me really. Other than that con, the last thing that kinda bugs me is the way its shaped on the back side, theres a corner that pokes ever so slightly into the fatty part of my palm under my thumb. But again, that can also be solved by replacing the back plate. All in all, 4 out of 5 for me. Fun features, very smooth, easy to customize both the hardware and software. Some cons that are easily fixed. Great mouse for some, but if you like a lighter mouse, this would not being a good choice for you.

I have been a PC gamer for 10+ years and am always searching for the best gaming peripherals that I can find. For a number of years I went through a ton of Logitech G series products and Razer products as well. Then one day my mouse crapped out on me and I ended up needing to pick up something cheap and fast. I settled on the Rival 100 and played with it for about 6 months before upgrading to the Rival 700 as soon as It came out. I have used it every day since and I absolutely love it. The tactile sensor technology is awesome for MOBA play and some RPGs. Having a vibration as an alert for when your cooldowns are finished has come in handy for games like League of Legends and Overwatch. The OLED has a number of different customization options. One of the complaints I had with the Rival 100 was the material they coat that particular mouse with. I read a lot of negative reviews where that coating seemed to be the focal point and they listened to customers feed back and changed it with the Rival 700. It is holding up quite nicely. The customization and them releasing the files to 3D print a cover for the mouse is also awesome. There is so much I am impressed with and nothing I don't like. The Rival 700 landed Steel Series a customer for life.

Great Mouse if you prefer weighted

I own a lot of gaming mice. Typically I play with a mouse that is 85-105g in weight. This one weighs more due to the OLED and customizable sensor that you can remove/switch with a laser sensor (I would recommend staying with the optical that is included) Tracking is excellent on the mouse, Easily compares to my G403, EC2-A, DA Chroma, and other highly regarded models. I feel like the input lag is even lower on this device, however it could be placebo effect. The clicks feel very good, and the shape is better than my Rival 300, just slightly. The clicks and shape are better for my hand size. I prefer palm grip style, and this mouse helps with that, although it would be really easy to do claw grip as well. The shape is for right-hand only. OLED screen looks really nice, and the haptic feedback works well in CS GO. I would like to see Steelseries expand the amount of games that it will integrate with. All in all if you prefer using a higher DPS to swipe less in an FPS game then the extra weight is not a big deal. This mouse glides very smoothly on a HyperX Large mousepad. The drag is very minimum. It is all preference, and this one will not disappoint, if you don't mind the heavier feel.

    Steelseries - Rival 700 Gaming Mouse-FPS/MMO

Straight out of the chute - this is a HEAVY gaming mouse, weighing in at around 135g where others are generally far less. Well fitted for "Palm" or "Claw" grip style and is only right-handed with seven fully customizable buttons plus the scroll wheel and you can include tactile feedback or not to the buttons with zero recoil. Primarily suited for FPS Gamers, but can be used for MMO's and others. Yes, there is a lot of 'Hate' out there towards the Rival 700 - Mostly on the weight issue, which is not much after a couple uses. Excellent tracking with the optical sensor, but if you desire laser - SS offers one. The "OLED" display is kind of nice and too is customizable to a small extent. The only true downside is the games supported via "GAMESENSE" which is still currently limited to 3: CS:GO, Dota2 and Minecraft. But don't let that minor discourage you. So if you are: Strictly FPS - Rival700 MMO's & FPS - Rival700 or Rival500 Strictly MMO's - Rival500 gaming mice

Excellent mouse but a little heavy

Needed a new mouse after my 2 year old Razer decided to continue having a double-click problem. I've used Steelseries mousepads for years and decided it was time to try one of their mice. The 700 is an excellent fit for my hand and the buttons feel very solid. The main L/R buttons also feel much more premium than my previous mouse. The only thing I wish could be adjusted is the weight. It's definitely a heavy mouse. Reminds of of the old wireless Microsoft mice that were heavy due to the batteries. It's fine for MMO use like WoW but if I was a very competitive FPS player I can see how it might be fatiguing to use after a while. The included software is easy to use, though I wish there was a little more customization for the lighting such as color modes. If this mouse continues to function well and not develop any weird problems like the Razer, I'll definitely be buying more Steelseries mice in the future.

I buy a few gaming mice a year typically and normally they break or their functionality declines enough to warrant purchasing a new one. After a few months with this mouse I have no sense I will need to replace this for a long time. Quality is there. Regarding performance I also have no complaints. The smoothness and features are top notch and the on-board software with mini OLED screen is not only a unique feature but is also quite useful (more than you think). My only complaint is the fact that the firmware refuses to update supposedly due to an issue with the removable cord not seating properly based on researching the issue online. Normally this would mean this mouse would lose a start, but in this case not getting the firmware updated has not affected me whatsoever. The software keeps telling me daily I should update the firmware but I honestly love this mouse as is and I doubt a firmware update would make it that much better.

I was doing a great deal of research on gaming mice before purchasing this one. Narrowing it down between the Logitech and the Steel series due to the way that they felt and performance. I have had a great deal of mice and knew the way that certain companies catered to their mice but this newer Steel Series kept coming up in product reviews and websites as one the top rated. After having the mouse for some time I can see why it was so highly rated. The customization is amazing giving you full control over the RGB color codes to choose from. Also the customization of the screen on the mouse I thought was a great little bonus. As for the feel it's top notch, everything from the braided cord to the actual feel of the mouse makes it feel extremely sturdy and not like it will fall apart. I feel like this will be my go to mouse from now and into the long future.

One big mistake ruined it for me

    Senses

I have had the Steelseries Sensei for years now and decided to get a new mouse. Why not try the new model that they have. I read a review on here saying that the mouse is great, a little heavy but overall a solid mouse. Drove to best buy, bought it. Got home, plugged it in and this is where i will say i was very disapointed. First off the mouse is heavy, not that big of a deal but the sensei was super light compared to it. The REAL CON is the cord that plugs into the mouse itself. There is a rubber aspect directly after it plugs in that points down and drags on the mousepad. I have a steel series QCK mousepad that is like plastic and the drag is horrible. I play LOL and cannot stand the feelings of the mouse being dragged one way or another. Went to amazon and just bought another sensei because it never let me down.
