A: I think it should work, I used it with my Nikon d850 and the 200-500mm lense
Q: Is it compatible with Canon 6D 100-400?
A: It is compatible with any camera with a 3/8 in. socket on the bottom, so, yes, it should work with your Canon 6D. If you're using a 100-400 mm lens you will probably need to add some weight on the hook below the center post to keep it from tipping over. It's sturdy, but lightweight; and, with the legs fully extended, it has a high center of gravity.
Q: can it hold a camera to shoot downward?
A: In theory, yes. The head can be swiveled to point the camera straight down. However, this is a lightweight tripod and hanging a heavy camera and lens off-center from the central post will likely cause it to tip over. It has an accessory hook under the center post and you can hang something heavy off of that to offset the weight of the camera, but I'd still be wary of it tipping.
