Sword Master is a new Chinese film that while it has some dazzling swordplay, there just is way more drama and story than action. Filmed well, the movie is hard pressed to keep you glued as there just can't be enough sword fights to overcome all the rest of the drama. And besides, one long sword fight would wear quickly, unlike a long set of martial arts moves. Not offensive, yet not overly necessary either. A bit above average so not a loss, just not something you'll go back to that often I suspect.

Initially I was skeptical about this movie, but the assassin, played by Peter Ho, ended up being one of the more interesting personas I have seen in film in quite some time. His nihilistic attitude combined with his gothic dark costume and artful swordplay made for a very memorable and entertaining character. His role strengthens this film.

Unlike a lot of Kung Fu movies out there this one actually has a pretty good story. Great characters and a story that keeps you hooked on top of awesome sword fights. The sword fights in this movie are some of the best I've seen in a minute.

Expert swordsman hangs up the steel and tries to lead a normal life but situations arise that drag him back to the fray. Sounds all too familiar like the Alan Ladd classic, Shane. Great film sequences with amazing CG and back grounds.

This film is essentially a classic Shaw Brothers Wuxia movie with a modern look. The star of the original directs this remake and does a fantastic job. Well choreographed, great story, good acting. Highly recommended.

The film provided a birds-eye view on the various techniques and levels of sword fighting. For those who love the sword, this film will add an additional intrigue of mystery and fun. Good for the whole family.

I guess I expected more action here. This is closer to historical drama, and all the action is swords. Now there are a couple amazing fights, but they cannot sustain the interest through the whole film.

I didn't enjoy the movie as it ran on and on. Would have possibly been better for me if it was speaking in English language instead of ready subtitles thought the movie that dragged out.
