    Synopsis

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's story, re-teams the director with Brad Pitt, who takes on the title role. What makes Button such a curious case is that when he is born in New Orleans just after World War I, he is already in his eighties, and proceeds to live his life aging in reverse. This sweeping film follows the character's unusual life into the 21st century as he experiences joy and sadness, loves lost and found, and the meaning of timelessness. Cate Blanchett co-stars along with Tilda Swinton, Elias Koteas, and Julia Ormond. ~ Perry Seibert, Rovi

Visually, this is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen. Every period in the film, from the roaring '20s of Benjamin's earliest years, to the 1960s when he lived briefly with the girl of his dreams, are captured almost perfectly onscreen. The cinematography is practically flawless. The film is so wonderfully atmospheric it's almost worth watching for that alone. The special effects are remarkable as well. At different points in the film, both Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt are made to look roughly twenty years younger than their actual ages. This is relatively new in film. It's been possible since the medium began to age actors with makeup, but now it's also possible to de-age them through the magic of CGI. So where it would once have only been possible to make this film using very young actors to play the leads, and use make up to age them into their 40s and 50s and beyond, they can now cast established stars in their 40s and still have them convincingly play characters just out of their teens. The technical wizardry behind this is amazing, and it's yet another example of the magic of the movies. Beautiful Film!

This movie looked good on regular DVD, but it looked so much better on a Blu-ray copy. I am glad it went on sale and got it as soon as I saw it on the shelf. It is a well acted movie and beautifully filmed. The character of Benjamin Button is born "old" and he ages in reverse. The movie is based on a short story. It was nominated for many awards and won a few Oscars (it did not win for the best movie). There are a lot of flashbacks, and it is a bit long. You have to be very patient, but it does pay off. As in any version of a movie that is released by the Criterion Collection, it is absolutely gorgeous and this is a very reasonable priced for one.

This is one of the movies that justifies buying High Def anything. The quality of the Blu-Ray is so so so good. Cate Blanchett it great in this Movie, and it's my favorite movie with Brad Pitt since Se7en [he's good in Inglorious B******s too]. The movie is a little long, but not without reason it conveys a good message. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is similar in tone to Forrest Gump, they both have strong emotional ups and downs. The image quality will blow you away from the moment the Paramount and Warner Bros. logos are shown as buttons until the ending credits roll.

      THE BEST ACTING EVER!

This is a great movie and anyone who don't like it do not know movies. But there is a loop hole that bothers me very much and thats why I gave the plot 4 stars. Benjamin was born a baby but an old baby and started to grow at a normal size rate but was looking older than his age and as he got older in age he looked younger. So shouldn't he be an 85 year old baby face boy. You'll understand when you see the movie. Other than that its fantastic. Bradd Pitt's acting as young old looking Benjamin is great. He does real good. Great!

This movie was spectacular! Whether you buy the 2-disc special edition (as I did,) the single disc or Blu-ray, you won't be disappointed. You would have to be a very dull and negative person not to like this movie. This movie draws you in, not just to Benjamins life, but all those around him. A very compelling saga that will have you laughing and crying. A definite must own! Trust me, you'll won't to watch it more than once. Enjoy!

I am not judging the film but more on paramount for not allowing criterion to fully master this film as intended. It is a criterion film of sort but not part of the serialized collection. Not mastered by them nor any additional physical / digital content. Still a very good film.

I went into this movie knowing little about it.I walked out very impressed with the overall theme, story the movie evokes. Every performance is fantastic (especially Brad Pitt,as the title character).David Fincher competently guides the viewer thru this world and makes us genuinely care about the characters. All in all a rare gem of a movie.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is phenomenal! All the actors played their characters so well, as if they were made to play these roles. The flow of the movie was awesome; nothing seemed too slow, nothing was hurried. The story really reels in the audience. This is a new favorite movie for me that I can watch over and over again. I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
