Middle earth like you've never seen it before. The voice of the dragon was done absolutely amazing by Benedict Cumberbatch. We get to hear more of the Orc language and Elves language. Everything was beautifully done. I cannot wait for the final movie "there and back again" Love the book, love the movies! Well done Peter Jackson!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey received a 5/5 stars on blu-ray.com. Desolation of Smaug will be produced by the same team. If you are a Peter Jackson/J.R.R Tolkein fan, there is no better way to experience the Hobbit video presentation that wows, dazzles with 7.1 HD Master Audio.

Wasn't a fan of the Hobbit or Lord of the Rings in the beginning. I never liked the books as a teen, but enjoyed this one (and all the movies associated with The Hobbit). Can turn people who didn't read the books into fans for sure.

Obviously the movie is an adaptation of the Hobbit one of the best literary classics. However it has been stretched into 3 movies with no real investment into producing something true to the original work in order to cash in on the interest in the books. It also I think strays from the feel of the book as an Bilbo's excitement and enjoyment of the adventure, but instead casts the darkness that is the Lord of the Rings.

As the second installment of the Hobbit trilogy, I actually enjoyed this one more than the first. The first seemed to drag, but this one moved along quite well. My main beef was the expected tension points -"Gandolf, don't step there, that rock's going to fall!" And, of course, it did. Can't someone just climb up the side of a mountain without dangling by their fingertips at some point? Otherwise, good movie, great chamber of commerce promo for New Zealand.
