Perhaps not as good as the original Exorcist (1973), but very reminiscent of it. The Vatican Tapes (2015) is a horror film about a young woman who for undisclosed reason(s) gets possessed by Lucifer. She slowly turns on the others surrounding her, and from the psychiatric institute gets send away home where her boyfriend, father, and a local priest await the arrival of a high ranking priest from Vatican City, whose specialty is exorcism. What follows after will leave you with goosebumps...and the best part of this film is the ending, which I found to be the best part of the entire film. I hope to see a continuum in a form of part two sometime in 2016. The scene with the cop and the light-bulbs in the hospital, together with the asylum scene where the possessed is talking to a wall are one of the best ones. The highlight of the film of course is the last 15 minutes...I enjoy watching open-ended final scenes left to viewer's own interpretations.

Without giving a summary of the movie I'll simply say that it was solid. It lacked the character and plot development that would have enhanced the ending and overall movie but it was still solid. Something just seemed to off as if the movie was being rushed to fit everything into a set screening time. Re-watch value is not that high but it's worth owning if you can find it for less than $10.

What a relief when this (sort of) finished. Not because it had been particularly scary, it simply meant I wasn't wasting any more of my life watching this, er, movie. Move along, nothing (new) to see here. Tag words; demonology, exorcism, possession, ridiculous. And it just comes to an abrupt end, almost like they were planning a sequel. Please, don't do it!

I am not a person who usually watches scary horror movies but my husband is. So what I thought about doing was try to find something where I hear that the movie is good and not that scary so I can try to build up to really scary ones. I'm trying to watch more scary movies with my husband and this movie was great to start my movie journey.

Not the best movie in the world and but not the worst. Bought it even though the reviews weren't kind and after watching I believe those reviews were too harsh. There are some original ideas in it and the acting was good but if you're looking for scares, you won't find them. 3 1/2 stars for a good story and ending.

This was a good movie, could be better. Still would recommend it to watch if you are into possession and exorcism. Definitely a movie to watch during the Halloween season.

I thought this was a really good movie. I don't remember all that happened in it but I DO remember my entire household sitting together and watching it. We haven't been together like that for a long while!

I like the "Devil is out there and you better watch out" type of movie. This is a training film for when the Devil really does get into you. Until then, pretend it won't happen to you.
