1Gb in an oddly shaped home? This is your router.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I never leave reviews, but I'm 100% stoked and impressed with this mesh system. I just upgraded from Spectrum to AT&T Fiber with 1gig speed, and AT&T's supplied router was absolute trash (It's the BGW320 for any of you in a similar situation). I couldn't get signal in the bedroom of my 1200sqft home, and the speeds were dismal unless I was standing right next to the router. I tried a network extender, and that was also a terrible experience. It creates a separate network - even if it has the same name - so if you're in a room in between the 2 networks you'll get terrible service because the device is constantly trying to figure out which one is best - which leaves you in a dead zone. Enter this TP Link Deco Mesh system. I wanted to try a "dumb" router that just focuses on giving me internet everywhere, as fast as possible (no mics, no smart-home integration... just... internet.) This system has actually made me joyous. It was a total breeze to setup, and I have internet EVERYWHERE in my house, and super fast speeds in every room. For AT&T customers - I followed the directions on their forum about putting the BGW320 gateway into "IP Passthrough Mode", using the MAC address from the Deco and turning off the built-in wifi. I also disabled their firewall since the Deco has its own protection. (You can search 'BGW320 IP Passthrough' for the detailed instructions) The 2 mesh nodes are wireless, I don't have ethernet in my house. When using the ethernet connection on one of the wireless nodes to my iMac, I'm getting 800-900Mbps up/down. And I only have 2/3 bars on the node since it's in my detached office. In short - this mesh system has made me happy. All my devices are working perfectly, every speedtest is impressive, and I think I have finally achieved tech-zen. Very glad I didn't have to keep the AT&T supplied garbage, and relieved I don't have to think about networking for at least another few years.

Great/affordable mesh system, better than Google
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This mesh system is a breeze to set up, connects quickly, and provides outstanding throughput. I love the addition of two 1 gig ports IN ADDITION to the 2.5 gig port. This helps this set with futureproofing big time. These units are shorter than the last set I got from TP-Link, which means they fit more easily in more places. I am thrilled that it also has some decent filtering and parental features, which is not something you get with Google's setup. Couldn't be happier and I would suggest these in a heartbeat. They have truly made it so there is no dead spot in my 2,400 square foot single story home, and we even have decent coverage outside, where I would always lose connection on the patio TV we have. Not anymore!

Absolutely changed my digital life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After struggling to get consistent wifi throughout my home and trying multiple mesh systems and standard wifi offerings, I found the TP Link Deco system on sale. Set up was simple, though allows for enough advanced finagling that you can set specific connection parameters for each device in your home. Went from dropping wifi altogether just a foot into my garage, to having 300MBPs in my front yard. 400 throughout most of home... I pay for the 500MBPs service and have more than 20 connected devices.

Speed issue Solved
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having major problems with my internet service wasn't getting the speed that I paid for and I purchased the AC 1200 mesh system 2 years ago which was supposed to support gig internet speed. It turns out to be the wrong mesh system for the internet service that I purchased. So I ended up purchasing the AX 4300 pro. It was easy to set up and I was also able to add and keep the AC 1200 satellites. So now I have a 6 mesh satellite set up and getting over a gig Wi-Fi speed which I wasn't getting before. So this mesh setup solved my internet speed issues.

Excellent
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easiest router I've ever set up. No spending hours messing with settings or figuring out issues, just works the way it's supposed to work. Bought the ceiling mount version for a second home, also excellent. App is great. Definitely going to add the outdoor unit to the system to expand the range into my backyard.

Easy peasy Wi-Fi.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy install and setup. The units themselves are relatively unobtrusive. The plug not so much. But overall it’s a great set up. I really like the Deco App to monitor usage. Will be adding more to extend out to our buildings and shop.

Q: QuestionDo I add this to my router or is this a substitution to the router in the house?
Asked by moon.
- A:Answer Hi! Theoretically speaking - it can fulfill either of those roles - depending on how you configure it. If you would like to use the Deco as your primary router and Mesh system, simply replace your existing router with the Deco and set it up in Router Mode. However, if you would like to continue using your existing router as your primary gateway, you can set up the Deco in Access Point Mode. Please note; however, that in Access Point Mode, some features of the Deco that rely on Router Mode operation may not be available.

Q: QuestionI just purchased the deco AX4300 whole home mesh wi-fi 6 system. When my son connects the Ethernet to his gaming PC it is extremely slow (9.7 mbps). Is there a number I can call to get assistance? I feel like we are doing something wrong.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I would first ask if he's connecting his ethernet cable to the 2.5G spot on the unit, and then I would ask if the unit itself is actually getting a good enough connection from the main Deco (I'm assuming it's not the main one). Please also ensure that the cable is a proper CAT-6 or CAT-7 cable and not something older or rated for less speed. Also, it might seem like a no-brainer, but make sure the PC is trying to connect using Ethernet, because sometimes it doesn't automatically do it and will continue to try connecting through Wi-Fi. If none of that works, the number I found on Google is 1-866-461-3326.

Q: QuestionDoes this router have built-in VPN? I.e. to access the router/network while away from home
Asked by Thebest.
- A:Answer Hi! The Deco AX4300 Pro supports VPN server/client features, including Open VPN, L2TP VPN and PPTP VPN.

Q: QuestionWhat are practical distances between the units? I understand that closer is better, but at what distance do they lose effectiveness? Also, do the satellites piggyback or do they all receive only from the main unit?
Asked by InterestedOne.
- A:Answer I think these are good for at least 30'. Newly moved into a compact three-story townhouse and these piggyback really well up the three flights to take care of hardware in office up there. Wifi router is on the first floor. These have been great.
