Very Nice Protection
It's a darn shame to have to put a case on the Galaxy S8 line but both sides are glass. And no matter what other may think I expect to use this phone until its no longer gets security updates. Having said that I looked very hard for a case that wasn't to big but had a reputation for really giving about as good protection as one can expect without it being much bigger. I had a good case that almost fit the requirement but it fell short in two important ways. One is because of the curved glass it didn't offer any protection to the sides of the phone or at least not enough for me to feel good about it. Another was although everything said it had plenty of clearance to plug in USB cables I found that to be untrue. It wouldn't fit the USB Type C port adapter that Samsung shipped with the phone. How hard would that have been to test and get right. So I had to keep on looking. The Urban Armor Monarch series seems to hit all of the marks. The Samsung adapter fits, the sides don't interfere with the touch screen but offer some side protection and its not as big as I expected. So overall I am very happy with this case. I do have one complaint. I had heard the button on the Urban Armor cases were done very well. They are done OK but they are almost flush with the case and that makes them hard to find. If they were raised just a bit more they would be perfect. Although I don't typically drop my phone I feel this can take a beating. Its good looking, built very solid, has room for a screen protector if you want and shouldn't slip out of your hands.

Great if you have "butterfingers"
I wanted protection for my Samsung S8+ against drops. I can honestly say this case is great if you tend to let your phone slip from time to time. From tile to concrete, this case has saved me lots of monies. More heavy-duty than the plasma, but not at all bulky. Adds enough weight to the phone so you don't forget it is there. Didn't mind the money spent on it after all I have gotten from it. Awesome buy! First-time buyer, would purchase this brand again.

Maybe not for everyone
Flagship cell phones are getting very expensive. And now there covered in glass. They look great and feel great, well except that they tend to be slippery. And that's the problem. One tumble and your heart stops and you just hope as you reach for it that the damage isn't to bad. If you are lucky maybe it comes out OK. But all it takes is one scratch and it weakens the glass. I don't like to wrap my phones in anything but a very slim case. But this phone needs more. The UAG gives me peace of mind and honestly yes it takes away from that nice slim high tech look and feel. But for me I have lost an expensive phone that hit the street and was completely wrecked. This case feel very solid and two things that stand out for me besides liking the way it looks. It protects the sides of the curved glass more than other cases I tried but doesn't interfere when you swipe the sides. So I get more screen protection without putting on a screen protector. I might still do that but don't feel its really needed. Another thing when you watch case reviews is access to the charging port. Samsung packs a USB to USB-C adapter. So you watch these reviews and they flip the phone over and talk about the area around the charging USB-C/port. But guess what most don't fit the Samsung adapter. That is not a problem with this case. Its strong, looks very good and truly does allow access to the ports on the bottom of the phone. If a reviewer raves about the clearance on the USB port but the one adapter that comes with the phone doesn't fit or they don't show it fitting they have done a disservice to people looking to buy a case. We are still in that transition stage for older legacy USB connectors so its nice that UAG made sure the one adapter the MFG provides with the phone actually works with an adapter you get. Shame on these reviewers, thanks UAG for the protection, looks, feel and that I can use the accessories that came with my expensive phone.
