A: Yes. Also its available on the WD website. Its Acronis and its very reliable and straight forward.
Q: Is this Western Digital's newer 3D version of the blue SSD or their previous version?
A: This is not the newest version of 3D
A: Different ways to do what You want done. I would go ahead and upgrade Your windows 7 to windows 10 first (keeping Your files). Then clone the old hard drive to the new wd-blue . After the cloning install the wd-blue. That way You have the older hard drive You pull out as a complete backup with windows 10 and all Your files on it.

A: Yes, all you need are SATA data and power connections
A: It should be. This is a direct replacement for SATA drives in laptops. The WD Blues have always worked well in the laptops I have updated.

A: If you are replacing a 2.5 inch sata drive then yes this should work. If it’s a larger drive then probably not.
