Whirlpool 18.5 Cu. Ft. Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator
Okay, I was a little skeptical about buying this fridge but it was the best fridge that fit my limited space, so I went for it. And because of the scary reviews on here, I bought the 3 year Geek Squad protection as well. I have to say, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. And it is NOT loud like these other reviewers were saying! I think they may be referring to when the fridge and freezer motors are both running at the same time. And even when they do, (which is not all the time), it's no louder than my 1990's fridge that I got rid of for this one. And the shelves adjust very easily. That's probably my favorite thing. And I was surprised at how nice the stainless steel looks. It looks just as nice as those $3k fridges. So, don't believe those other reviews, buy it!
Very happy with our new frig. I don't find it to be noisy at all. Once in awhile I'll hear a little 'chatter' for lack of better word, but stops within seconds. Haven't investigated if I have something up against something else to see if that's it when it starts. All I know is after years of having our old fridge with broken seal, very pleased with this one.
This was the only white fridge that would work for us. I'd prefer the textured finish instead of smooth. The handle on the freezer looks cheesy compared to the handle on the door. The shelves are harder to get stuff out of the freezer than what the bottom drawers were on my old refrigerator. It keeps an even temperature.
A fridge is a fridge. It cools and does what it needs. But the difference in buying one or the other is the design and attention to details. This one lacks both. First of all there are bolts and nut and screw showing everywhere, top and bottom don't bother me so much as the ones in front which my Amana did not have. The texture of the handle is dry and rough instead of smooth. The doors is not heavy enough so it stays open easily if not paying attention. I have a kid so it has happened a lot already. There are still pieces of plastic from the wrapping stuck in places where I will need a screw to remove, tweezers were not enough. The cheese drawer feels like running your nails through a black board each time you open it and close it. Missing the rack for the cans which we used a lot in the old one for my son's milks and juices. I expected more from whirlpool and the sales agent did not sell it correctly either!
Overall really like the unit. Much prefer the bottom door over a drawer. Handle fixes on very well and the unit feels reallt sturdy. There is a screw visible on the handle, which isnt great, and the plugs for the other handles have a Phillips head showing, so the aesthetics arent great. Also there arent plugs for the hinges on top of the unit. The holes are small but still, i would think small silver plugs would be provided.
Smallest of the four, size does matter. But it got in the door.
The bottom freezer is a door, not drawer and I hate it. The outside gets dirty just by looking at it. The others did not. It has no bells or whistles and cost just as much. I’ll live with it, but unhappy with whole mess. I wished the sales guy, from the beginning, had asked me if I had measured right, but that never even came up. The whole fiasco would have been avoided. But whatever, my coffee cream is cold. And ice cream frozen and that’s what’s important.
A:AnswerHi cooledoff, thank you for you inquiry. We are sorry to hear about the icing issue you are having with your refrigerator. It sounds like you could have a blocked defrost drain. So every time the unit self defrosts, the water has nowhere to go. We recommend calling into our Customer Care Line for further assistance. Agents there can be reached at 1-800-253-1301 Monday thru Friday from 8-8 pm EST and 8-4 pm EST on Saturdays. We hope this helps!
A:AnswerI assume it is because you can arrange everything to your convenience, there are 5 bins that fit in door, plus a permanent one at bottom of door , according to what you need and 2 produce drawers on bottom and a cheese and meat drawer that fits under top shelf, you end up with maximum of three areas for food plus drawers depending on how you position drawers. I didn't need one bin for door, so use it on a shelf to store small bottles.
