A: Mine so far has not done that ,maybe your neighbors is defective and needs looked at , also would not hurt to call a whirlpool representative and find out for sure.

Q: Dies the range comes with a grill pan like all ranges?
A: No it don't.

Q: Does it have a fast boil on it
A: There is not actually a setting for "fast boil" but I can tell you that this stove top get hotter and faster than my old Whirlpool range that had the old style elevated elements and pans. I was not sure if I would like this as it is "new tech". But I love the two front spots that you can use the larger ring or just the smaller ring. And I like the "Keep Warm" element on the back row middle. Works like a champ. Hope this helps. Oh..in case you do buy this range, the first couple of times that you use the oven, it does smoke and put off a fume that comes out near the rear left burner. Scared us at first but it even mentions it in the instruction manual. :-)
