Q: How much ice does it produce without the side tank?
A: Hey there, and thanks for your interest in our Opal! This side tank accessory P4AAKASSPSS is compatible with models XPIO23BCBT and XPIO23SCSS, though it is not included automatically with them. We’re glad to advise both those models are designed to produce one pound of ice per hour, or up to 24 pounds per day! A: It can go somewhere else. It feeds water to the ice maker thru a small tube, so as long as that tube reaches and isn't kinked, and is flat or higher than ice maker, should work.

A: The P4AAKASSPSS is only compatible with the following models: XPIO23SCSS, XPIO13SCSS and XPIO43SCSS. If you don't have one of these units, please take a look at the support article on the GE Appliances website titled: "Opal Nugget Ice Maker - Side Tank Accessory Number And Attachment Method For All Models" to help determine which side tank accessory you would need for your model.
Q: Is the tank glass or plastic?

A: Hey there - thanks for reaching out about your Opal icemaker. We’re glad to learn that you’re loving your new Opal 2.0 icemaker, but certainly understand why you’d like some clarification on this issue. When you first start the Opal (or make a switch to the side tank) and it begins to make ice, the initial batches of ice nuggets will be slushy. After about 30 minutes, your Opal will be making good, solid nuggets. If the ice nuggets are all slushy (even the ones at the top of the ice bin), the unit may need to be cleaned. -- For cleaning instructions, see the “Care and Cleaning” section in your manual, starting on page 7: https://content.syndigo.com/asset/6156244d-7fe1-4d30-bf7b-ce7ecd405b25/original.pdf -- If the unit continues to make soft, slushy ice or has never made good ice, please contact our Opal Support Team by calling 866-907-6718, or by submitting the Opal support request form on our GE Appliances website. Q: Can you use a side tank on both sides at the same time?
