The 83A80L is closely related to the A90J in many features including design, center channel mode, and even includes a heat sync. But, the 83A80L is equipt with the new 2023 Cognitive Processor XR that includes many new improvements over the J and K series XR Processor. One of which is the all-new XR Clear Image feature for added clarity no matter what content you are watching. A: It is already as bright or brighter than the 83" A90J. From what I understand the A80L 83" is able to do this with a smaller heat sink than what is used on the A90J 83". I have not done a side-by-side comparison of the A80L 83" and the smaller size A80L displays, but I have done a side-by-side comparison of the A90J 83" that has the larger heat sink and the A80L 77" and the A80L 77" has a brighter picture. I am pleased with the brightness of the A80L 83". It appears from the research that I have done, that Sony used some of their older technology with an enhanced XR processor to achieve what seems to be a brighter picture with a smaller heat sink for the A80L 83".

Amazing TV!
We've been watching a 50" Samsung Plasma for 15 years. It was time for an upgrade. This 83" XRA80L is like going from the past straight into the future. I was concerned about watching football and even movies during the day because our family room has a lot of sunshine. No worries at all. Put this puppy on Vivid with brightness 35 out of 50 and contrast 80-90 out of 100, and you might even have to turn down the brightness, especially at night. The sound set on Cinema is the best. I'm not sure why, but it is. It fills the room, and we haven't even got a soundbar yet. The guys at the Kennesaw Outlet were fantastic! We picked up our Open Box, and they loaded it into the Acadia for us. We got it out and set it up on a sturdy coffee table with the included Sony stands. There is no juttering, and the XR chip provides great upscaling. Even DirecTV satellite 1080i looks like 4K. Sony OLED is the way to go. You won't be sorry.

Big screen OLED
This is my 3rd OLED tv. I have an LG c7 and c1. Both 65". Once you get an OLED you can't step down. Infinite contrast and perfect blacks are what you get. This 83" Sony has a fantastic picture and because its a Sony with the new XR chip, you get the best upscaling available for low bitrate content.

Great tv. Worth the price
Great picture very bright. Pairs easily with my soundbar and is perfect for games, sports, and movies in my basement.
