So far, so good. Good tech support.

Only had these (bought two) for 24 hours, so I can't comment on longevity or performance. I can only say at this point that they appear to be well-made, and are acting as they should. I've tested them with electrical appliances, and they do what they're supposed to. I had one issue, and contacted Customer Tech Support, Jeremy from the Philippines was easy to understand and very helpful. One of my units acted perfectly, steady green light under AC power. But the other one was green for two seconds, then two flashes etc etc. The guide says that means the unit is supplying battery power to the outlets, the way it would act if the power went out. Yet it was plugged into an outlet. First thing Jeremy suggested was try another outlet. Duh...the ground fault on the original outlet was tripped, and the outlet was dead. As soon as I moved the unit and plugged it in, BINGO. Forehead slap. Now...as far as complaints about the battery being non-replaceable. There's a guy on YouTube who takes out the four assembly screws on the bottom, and removes a perfectly replaceable 12V, 4.5AH battery. Easily. Yes, you void the warranty, but after two years or so, I'm no longer going to worry about that. Shipping cost to return for service will cost more than the battery. So if this thing lasts a while, I don't see a problem. I paid $24.99 each for these. I think they're a steal at that price.

Bought this UPS to replace a malfunctioning one by a different manufacturer. Like the small size and ability to hang on wall. This will provide power to our gateway and one switch. I have purchased over 12 APC UPSes over the years, and have also used other manufacturers. Have always come back to APC. Kicking this one star since this unit does not have a user replaceable battery and there is no mention of this on the Best Buy website, in the information from APC listed on the website, or on the box. It is not until you buy it and get it home and read the manual that you find this out. This is a new version and the older version has a user replaceable battery. Generally, I have had to replace batteries every 3-4 years, so with this unit it is throw it out and buy another one. Usual battery replacement cost is $25, and a new unit is $50 so that is a bummer. If this does not bother you, then it is a good product. I am considering returning it and buying something else.

I've purchased many variations of this APC Back-UPS (450v, 650v, some with USB, some with no USB), and i am very pleased with this model. In fact, i purchased two of them! Pros: -Small form factor means it can be tucked away behind a computer monitor on top of a desk. I see this as a huge plus vs. the competitors which take a huge amount of space -Perfect for network devices (modem/router), and even for smaller desktops (I have mine connected to an iMac and a second external monitor) due to its generous number of back-up power plugs (some do a half/half distribution. this model actually gives you more back-up plugs than non-backup plugs) -Flat power plug, so the outlet can be against a flat object (like a bookshelf, etc.) - No annoying beeps like some other models Cons: -No removable battery, but like some have said, you can buy a new unit for almost the same cost as a new battery -This model does *not* have USB ports. I bought this particular model for my iMac, so it's not an issue for me. However, i have a similar APC model with USB ports which are used 24/7, so keep this in mind. That's about it for my cons... it's a very great, reliable model. Like i said, i purchased two of these and am using one with an iMac + external monitor, as well as a second on a laptop dock with two external monitors.

Though I got it at a discounted price for the Black Friday sale, I can't say I am too happy knowing that the unit tripped and couldn't support a flat iron, my computer, and a small heating unit. I was considering returning it but thought it would be useful for protection with my PS4. Initially it was intended for supporting my gaming computer rig but that proved not useful. I am currently living in an older home, built in the 1920's so there is only one electrical socket in our room. Long story short is, it's a good looking, easy to use, and was extremely budget friendly at the time of purchase. Only downfall is, it's not necessarily doing the original job I hoped it would. Ended up purchasing a 900V unit as well to replace it (for much more money). There are a lot of variables in my particular circumstance. This is not a review to do anything but provide an honest opinion of my experience with this product. In the end, I am keeping the unit and not refunding it, therefore I am giving it 3 stars. This would likely only work with devices that require less energy usage/consumption. I have yet to reinstall the device.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. I apologize that it didn't fit your needs. Usually this unit is designed to be connected to smaller equipment since it only supports 255 watts of equipment connected to it. I just bought a rather high-end desktop computer, and missed the battery that laptops offered. They prevent damage and data corruption from under-voltage, sudden power loss, and even surges. This UPS was discounted by over 50% at time of purchase, and it runs well. I haven't tested it, but it should provide enough power to safely power down. Due to the lack of a data cable, I wouldn't feel comfortable using this for an extended duration on the battery. And while this isn't what the battery was made for, my computer stays on all day, thus a sudden power loss is still possible (though it may not cause damage). More expensive versions of this unit can tell the computer to shut down safely when reaching a certain threshold, via USB. For five stars, this unit should include a rudimentary solution to this, even if it makes the price somewhat higher. But overall, I am satisfied. If buying at full price, I would recommend getting the higher priced one with a USB cable, as it's not much more.

APC UPS devices are the best. This one is inexpensive, and has a nice new compact form factor, ideal for sitting on a desk. BUT, and this was my fault for not double-checking, this model does not come with USB management support. I just assumed (again, on me) that it did, since every other APC UPS I've ever worked with (I work in IT - sys mgt), has had one. Even the older $40 low-end models used to come with USB management. I had bought this for my son's gaming rig that was super-expensive, which he spent a lot of time building this past xmas, so I wanted him to have 1) real surge protection and 2) auto graceful shutdown. He took a couple weeks to open this up and plug it in, but when he finally did, he discovered the lack of USB management, so no "automatic graceful shutdown" which was the point of me buying it for him. The next model up, which is $65 or so, is same form factor, but has USB management, and comes with a USB charging port, so I'll be purchasing that model.

Thank you for taking the time to review our UPS. Unfortunately you are correct the smaller BN450M doesn't come with the USB management software. It is however available on the next step up (BN650M1) which it sounds like you have already noticed. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. APC

I use multiple UPS units to keep the power going continuously on certain devices in my house. This unit was specifically purchased to power some smaller "not so wattage hogging" devices, and the price was right as well as the size and specifications. Purchased it, plugged everything in, and it all worked. I'd like to say the experience was amazing or something, but I know what I need and how it should work, and it worked (and continues to work) perfectly. While l also have larger units for more powerful equipment, this smaller unit fit in quite nicely for multiple battery chargers etc. Overall highly recommended and a great price.

      Replaceable Battery

I work from home as an IT professional; wish I had 3 of these a while back during a recent windstorm outage, one for my work PC, router/modem, and switch. I would have had a bit of time to save my work and also the fam could have stayed on the Internet with our wireless battery devices for who knows how long. Easy to set up, has a replaceable battery, and comes with a QC/inspection verification receipt. FYI: 180 joules isn't even close to protecting from a lighting surge BUT it is for other things like possibly an electric company or transformer outage. To truly protect your home from lightning strikes (unless it directly/indirectly hits your home) you'll need something in tandem with this, such as "whole-home protection" tied into your circuit breaker and/or lightning rods, etc.
