What is Apple Limited Warranty coverage?

Most Apple devices come with a one-year Apple Limited Warranty (Apple Watch Edition and Apple Watch Hermès provide two years) and up to 90 days of complimentary technical support. You can learn more about what is covered under Apple’s one-year Limited Warranty. You can purchase AppleCare+ to extend that coverage and get additional features such as 24/7 priority tech support and accidental damage protection.

What AppleCare+ coverage terms do you offer?

You can select from a variety of AppleCare+ payment options for your device, including two- and three-year plans that you pay for upfront, or monthly and annual recurring plans. Best Buy also sells AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for iPhone, which includes up to two incidents of theft or loss coverage every 12 months, with each incident subject to a service fee and applicable taxes. Is there a coverage limit to the protection available under AppleCare+?  

AppleCare+ covers up to two incidents of accidental damage every 12 months, each subject to a service fee and applicable tax.

AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss for iPhone includes everything in AppleCare+ and up to two incidents of theft or loss coverage every 12 months, each subject to a service fee or deductible.

Where can I find support and details about my existing plans?

How do I get contract support through my Best Buy Business account?

Please call us at 1-800-433-5778. 

How can I purchase AppleCare+?

Online:

First, add an Apple device to your cart. You can then add AppleCare+ during the checkout process.

In store:
Ask a Blue Shirt about protecting your device with AppleCare+. During checkout, make sure that AppleCare+ is added to your purchase.

Post purchase:
You are eligible to add AppleCare+ to your Apple device for up to 60 days after the date of your hardware purchase. Please visit a Best Buy store with proof of purchase. If you purchased your device online, please add it directly through your online purchase history. This may be subject to a remote diagnostic inspection and serial number verification.

Can I still purchase AppleCare+ after I’ve received and opened the device?

You are eligible to add AppleCare+ to your Apple device up to 60 days after the date of your hardware purchase. Please visit a Best Buy store with proof of purchase and receive a visual inspection of your device. If you purchased your device online, please add it directly through your online purchase history. This may be subject to a remote diagnostic inspection and serial number verification.

 

How can I change the billing information for my monthly plan?

If your card has expired or you have switched cards, you can easily update your billing info here or call us at 1-800-433-5778. Please have your new payment information ready as well as your AppleCare+ plan number, if you happen to have it.

When does AppleCare+ coverage begin?

Coverage begins as soon as you purchase AppleCare+ and it continues (unless cancelled) through the date specified in your plan confirmation. Your AppleCare+ proof of coverage email will specify the coverage end date. 

If I buy a new eligible device, can a previously purchased and active AppleCare+ plan be transferred to that device? 

AppleCare+ cannot be transferred to another device. If you’re sent a replacement device as part of your AppleCare+ coverage, it will be covered for the remaining duration of your plan. 

Can I transfer my AppleCare+ plan to someone else?

For fixed-term AppleCare+ plans, you may make a one-time permanent transfer. When notifying Apple of the transfer, you must provide the plan agreement number; the serial number of the covered equipment; and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner. Additionally, there may be transfer restrictions on plans that are financed.

Can I add an AppleCare+ plan to a device I received as a gift from Best Buy?

Yes, bring your gift to a Best Buy store with your gift receipt within 60 days of the purchase date and an AppleCare+ plan can be purchased.

Can I cancel my AppleCare+ plan?

You may cancel your plan at any time by calling Apple at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273). If you purchased a monthly plan or a paid up-front plan less than 30 days ago, please visit a Best Buy store or call 1-800-433-5778. You can also cancel your plan by visiting your membership page.

What if I purchased an AppleCare+ plan and my product fails during the manufacturer's warranty period?

You can get service by visiting getsupport.apple.com or an Apple Authorized Service Provider like Best Buy, or by calling Apple at 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273).

How do I make an AppleCare+ claim?

I’m a Totaltech member. Is AppleCare+ included?

As a Best Buy Totaltech™ member, you'll receive up to 24 months of AppleCare+ on eligible Apple products purchased at Best Buy while your membership is active. At the end of 24 months, you may have the option to extend your protection coverage by taking on the responsibility of paying for the plan.
