Does what I needed for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had Brother laser printers before...all reliable. My most recent HL5170n gave up the ghost; thus I needed to replace it. The 2380DW has the added function of scanning and copying...somethings the 5170 could not do. The wireless 2380 even prints faster than the larger 5170. I opted to have it wireless, although I do have hardwired do have ethernet that I could use too. Overall I have been satisfied with it. This model does not have the auto tray for scanning or copying multiple sheets (my choice). Overall the setup is easy and the quality of print is good. Additionally, one can easily print from an I-Pad and I-Phone, both quickly finding the Brother for printing.

Love this printer !!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved this printer so much I purchased 2. One for home & one for work. Saves money because I am using toner. Cons: I ran out of toner so tried to use swap @ use from the same exact cartridge from my work printer and because it was not a brand new cartridge the printer would NOT recognize it and kept saying needs toner. Quite annoying. Should be able to use even if not brand new. Also wish the scanner was feedable. Rather then using one at at a time.

So much better than HP
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I highly recommend Brother printers. I have been thru several HP printers and have had a multitude of problems. The hardware seems good enough but HP's software is junk. My last office jet was $300+ and would consistently lose WIFI connection even though it said it was connected. So every time I went to print something I had to reset the WIFI connection. So I finally switched brands and will never buy another HP. This cheap Brother printer has effortlessly done it's job every time I have needed it. Zero problems setting it up and zero problems since. I press print from any device in my home and it prints. It's also very fast. I have also used the scan and copy features without issue and they work simply and exactly as expected. Highly recommended. If you're shopping for a printer, do yourself a favor and don't buy an HP.

Q: QuestionWhich toner does this model use?Two toner choices come up for this product which one does it use?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The TN630 is the standard capacity toner cartridge. It's advertised yield is about 1200 pages. The TN660 is the high capacity cartridge. It's advertised yield is about 2600 pages, and is the better deal by far. I highly recommend using only genuine Brother OEM toner cartridges. I have used after-market cartridges in the past but will never do so again. The quality of the toner is highly variable and you stand much more of a chance of toner leaking out and ruining your documents and possibly your printer as well. The same goes for refilling your toner cartridge yourself or at a local computer shop. I've never had good success doing that. Just my 2¢ worth...

Q: QuestionIs this printer compatible with an iMAC?
Asked by Meryl.
- A:Answer it should be, I use it with an ibook pro. I know my husband (who set it up) run into some extra work as we don't have a cd drive. He had to go to the brother website and download the program to install it. The one other thing that I noticed is that when using the usb cable to connect them, the ibook will only recognize the printer out of a specific usb port. If plugged into any of the other it flags it as not being connected but once I figured that out it has been easy to use.

Q: QuestionDoes the toner dry out if printer isn't usedDoes the toner tend to dry out like my inkjet printer if you don't keep using the printer? I only print things once in a while.
Asked by B609jk.
- A:Answer Toner doesn't dry out which is why i got this, the toner will basically last forever and doesn't require any kind of normal use like ink jet printers do so the ink won't dry out, if you only print every so often then laser is definitely the way to go, no waited money on ink that doesn't get used or is waited cleaning the print head

Q: QuestionIs this a FAX machine, too?
Asked by MJ.
- A:Answer Unfortunately no it is not a fax machine. Remember that you can alternatively scan a document to be faxed and use your computer to send faxes via software that is available online and sold separately.

Q: Questioncan you scan a document and send it to an email address?I want to be able to scan a document and have the document sent to my email address as a pdf file. Or I want to be able to scan a document to a flash drive. Can the 2380 3 in 1 do these things?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes, you can scan it to your computer in the format you want, pdf, jpeg, etc.

Q: QuestionCan you scan more than one page at a time? Is it a flat scanner?
Asked by jes8282.
- A:Answer There is not a document feeder, but you can create a multi-page scan by placing the pages on the scanner one after the other. After each page scans, the printer asks if you have another to scan in the same document.
