A: Thank you for your question tball. While the cameras do require a powered wall outlet, they are wireless in that you would not need to run wires from the DVR to the cameras, which in some cases could take hundreds of feet of wiring run through attics, along eaves and through walls.
A: Thank you for your question. The power cords are a total of 24 feet. While we don't sell extensions, you can use a household extension cable if needed. Please keep in mind that the power supply for the camera should be indoors.
A: Great question JT. At this time there is no plan for a battery operated version. Continuous surveillance can be very draining on batteries and would likely result in many changes per month. We appreciate your suggestions and hope that we can one day run cameras in this way.
Q: can i hook up a monitor to view all cameras
A: Great question patjohn, The DVR will accept an HDMI or VGA connection so you can view all of your cameras at the same time, or one at a time.
A: Great question! There are no fees or surprises to use our remote access features! All you need is a wired internet connection to the DVR and our free (no ads!) Defender HD app on your smartphone to view your DVR anywhere you have mobile service or Wi-Fi.
A: Great question Wifiwanderer. Available playback speeds are 2x 4x and 8x forward and reverse. Cameras can be viewed single or four camera splitscreen. A digital zoom option is available to expand a selected area of your choice.
Q: How far away from the base is too far for the cameras?
A: Great questions Matthew, the transmission range for the Wireless HD system is 200 m with clear line of sight. Thank you for considering Defender to give you the peace of mind you deserve!
Q: Does the system need WiFi to work or only for live viewing?
A: Great question DJ! Our wireless cameras do not need a Wi-Fi connection to record or connect to the DVR. If you wish to add the DVR to your network for smartphone viewing, it will need to be connected to your router with an Ethernet cable no longer than 30 feet.
