A: Hi, I was wondering the same thing. Upon doing some detective work I found that the more expensive i5 variant is due to it being Inspiron 7000, not the 5000 i7. What are the differences? The 7000 is aluminum and has a fingerprint reader, whereas the 5000 is plastic with no reader. I hope this helps.
