A: Hello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Dyson V11™ Torque Drive and V11™ Origin vacuums are very similar. Both will offer the same run time and suction power. The cleaner head features an integrated digital motor which spins the brush bar up to 60 times a second. It drives stiff nylon bristles deep into carpet to remove dirt, and carbon fiber filaments capture fine dust on hard floors. Both machines offer three cleaning modes for a variety of household tasks, so you'll have the right balance of power and run time where you need it. The V11™ Torque Drive has an advanced LCD screen display which monitors system performance 8,000 times a second, then reports back in real time. You'll receive notifications of blockages, have a real-time countdown mode alerting you to remaining battery life in the mode you're using, and you'll also see filter alerts, letting you know it's time to clean your filter. On the V11™ Origin model, the display is an LED and will allow you to switch between your 3 power modes: Eco, Auto and Boost. Q: What is the difference between this and the v11 animal?
A: The V11 Origin has a removeable battery. The V11 Animal includes an additional stiff bristle brush.
A: I’m not sure why “dyson expert” is saying you can’t because I purchased another battery for this exact model and it works just fine. I had the outsize before this model and felt the outsize was too big but liked the options for additional batteries. I have tested my additional batteries on the Dyson V11 Origin (non outsize model) and they work.

It features stiff nylon bristles to drive deep into carpet and soft, anti-static carbon fiber filaments to capture dust from bare floors. The high torque cleaner will automatically sense and adapt to changes in the floor type so that the right amount of suction is provided. The Dyson V11 features a seven-cell nickel-cobalt-aluminum battery that has the fade-free power to clean here, there and everywhere around your home. 14 cyclones generate forces of more than 79,000g to fling microscopic particles - such as pollen and bacteria - into the bin. The motor, bin and cyclone are aligned, so air is drawn into the cyclone in a straight line - helping to create powerful Dyson suction. V11 also features a fully-sealed filtration system to trap 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns - expelling cleaner air. The Origin model includes our torque-drive cleaner head which features Dyson DLS technology - this automatically senses and adapts to changes in floor type, to extend runtime. You will have the right balance of power and runtime when you need it. This model also includes our crevice tool and combination tool. With the V11 Absolute, you receive the soft roller cleaner head. This tool was engineered specifically for use on bare floors. If you have delicate hardwood, or floors more susceptible to marking or scuffing, this would be an ideal choice for your home.
