A: It has a hardware based image stabilisation which will make video much smoother while keeping full quality video. Built in GPS for image and video tagging and speed, 2 inch touch screen, voice commands, waterproof up to 30 feet without a case, high quality stereo mic for sound that will be a lot better, and is a little smaller than it's predecessor.
A: It's to help keep it competitive to Nikon's entry into the action camera category. Nikons optics will be better than Go Pro's, and the quality and performance will be better. Now that people will have a viable option to Go Pro in this category, their pathetic customer support and service will have to step it up and actually stand behind the quality of their camera. Nikon has always been at the fore-front of photography, and their customer service is outstanding. Make sure you check out the Nikon action cameras before buying what will most likely be reduced to being used as a paper weight in a year, like my Go Pro cameras.
A: The 5 comes with a case which is really a mount that surrounds the camera. Because it is waterproof without a case (complete separate housing unit) , it doesn't come with another separate case. There is an available case for deeper diving.

A: If it's on and recording nonstop, battery will last around 1-1.5 hours.

A: Gopro won't cover breaking the cam in any manner, best buy will. They have different tiers at best buy for protection concerning the length of the warranty.
Q: Is there an external mic jack ..???
A: You can plug an external mic into either the charging port or the mini-HDMI port (can't remember which) but definitely yes.
