Design Flaw

Quality3 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5Phone has been good for my 85 year old mother. However, the volume button being on the side of the phone where it is held during calls is a terrible design flaw. Very often while my Mom is talking, she inadvertently presses the volume button and turns it down to silent. She doesn’t know it is on Siena and then when I call and can’t get an answer, there is a panic on why she is not answering and requires someone to go to her house to turn the volume back up. Other than that, it has served her well. But this is an ongoing daily/weekly problem.

Missing 1 Key Feature
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use3 out of 5This would be a great phone for Seniors or anyone wanting a simple phone BUT its missing one key feature. The Lively flip, the newest model as of today with the light gray keyboard Dec. 2020, does NOT have speed dial. My senior is legally blind and i usually program my number where all they should have to do is press and hold #5 or #5 and send because the #5 has a raised dot and easy to find. with this phone now it is a five step process just to make a call, Very confusing. Also the the Flashlight and magnifier do not work together and are also hard to navigate to. the flashlight should have a dedicated button. Otherwise the phone is a good size ,Display is good and the keyboard is much better then the previous black keyboard. The ringer and volume could be louder. As much as i wanna like this phone i can Not recommend the lively flip at this time because of the missing one key feature, No Speed Dial. Be careful, the ads tend to hype this phone to be more than what it is.

New phone
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality4 out of 5Value3 out of 5My 98 year old mom took about 3 weeks to learn how to use the basic functions of this flip phone after her other one broke. I need to make her some notes on making a call, answering the phone, etc. The manual was clear enough for a younger person. I am happy to say that she is getting used to her phone and she likes the red color.

Could be a little easier to use

Happy with my new Jitterbug flip!
|Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I love this new jitterbug flip phone. It's easy to use, has everything you could want on it, and so much more reasonably priced than the AT&T flip I owned. The AT&T bills were getting higher every month, even though my usage was minimal......just for emergency calls only. I never chat on my cell phone, just the land line. There is also an emergency button on this new phone in case you are ever in trouble, help will be provided. I had one before, was talked into a new service, and regretted it. As soon as the jitterbug went on sale, I took advantage & ordered one. It was delivered in 2 days. The customer service dept. was great with helping me get connected. I'm so happy with my jitterbug flip!!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5A little difficult to set Alexa up, but totally well worth it for a senior in you life, nothing easier for an elderly parent that saying “Alexa, dial my son/daughter” Once again, Just have to make sure you have it set up beforehand.

A good phone for seniors you care about.

Quality4 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5My only complaint is this was a Best Buy online curbside pickup order and the delivery was an unseed and opened box. Clearly this was a return and resold as new/factory reset, I'm not stupid BB. That aside, the activation card was missing but all other documentation was in order and there was zero marks on the device. The activation took a few hours since no card = call in for activation. Once the activation completed the phone interface is what you'd expect. I think it's great. Basic no frills crystal clear sound and I mean crystal clear. Lots of good ring tones, nice size ear screen with good basic controls. No hidden controls so if you use the mouse, the confirm action is a separate button so all actions have to be deliberate. I bought the Health and Saftey add on which enables the emergency button and for an added cost (there are 3 tiers of the Health and Saftey plan) added the personal operator for them. They can locate within 15 feet of the phone (GPS broadcast) The texting is pre-last gen but it works. Basic texting is all you need. Alexa works, yes it does but only connecting it to your account. Otherwise it says all it can do is control your phone which it doesn't do at all and 3/4 of the time when it does work. Calls are again, very ear and the sound is amazing. I'd say better then my Note 10+ on Sprint/T-Mobile. The support was patient because the activation server was down for a few hours. Read the directions before turning the phone on like I did (it says don't turn it on prior to activation all over every side/flap and on the physical unit of the phone) . It will literally save you possibly having to rerun the phone. Activate the account online or by phone first then when instructed turn it on. Has wifi 2 and 5 which is awesome and intuitive connection so set it up then it'll connect when it's in range like it should. Camera sucks but you get a 2mp camera. It's something at least. Looks pretty, Candy Apple Red. Good build.

Son and Caregiver to uset.

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use2 out of 5Phone is a good phone but has the high and low volume buttons on the upper right side of the phone. Unfortunately this is where most right handed people place their thumb. Almost with out fail people press the low volume button causing the phone to loose volume and even go to silent. Most people might figure that out but extreme elderly people like my mom can't seem to comprehend. I would suggest on the next flip phone the volume buttons be moved. I would recommend this to a friend if they were able to comprehend how to use with the volume buttons.

Q: QuestionDoes the Lively Flip have a better speakerphone than the Jitterbug flip? What about the sound quality? I bought my Mom the Jitterbug flip but the sound quality was so poor she couldn't use it - wondering if the new Lively Flip is any better?
Asked by Snoopy.
- A:Answer I have it on the maximum volume and the sound quality is still very weak - I have good hearing and compared to my iphone, the sound quality is just horrible - considering that this phone is designed for seniors who generally have hearing difficulties, one would think more effort would have gone into the design of the phone to ensure superior sound quality.
