Excellent Picture Quality, some quality concerns
Posted .It took a few tries for Hisense and BestBuy to send me a working unit, the first unit had a cracked screen and the 2nd unit did not have any picture at all initially. I had to swap out the inverter board and ribbon from the broken TV into the 2nd unit, at which point the TV worked. Having seen the internals of this TV and how fragile the screen is on the cracked unit, I do have some concerns about how long this TV will last, but ultimately it has a great picture quality at a much cheaper price point compared to the competition. Also, another thing I've noticed is this display is *VERY* picky about HDMI cables. I have some Amazon Basics 18Gbps 4K cables that supported 4:4:4 subchroma just fine and they are also rated for HDR/Dolby Vision and they worked just fine with my Samsung 4K TV. When I used them with this TV from the same sources (Fios Box, Xbox One X, PS4) the TV complained about weak source signal, but eventually came up while I left it plugged in. I ordered some 8K DynamicView cables at $11 each so I hope this fixes the HDMI handshake/signal issues. Also, when using HDMI ARC, I noticed the Volume bar kept popping up every 30 seconds or so with my Vizio Atmos soundbar, as if it was momentarily losing connection and re-establishing it or it was getting a volume input. Again, I hope swapping to the 8K cables fixes this as I am forced to use SPDIF right now which is suboptimal since I don't get full Atmos audio. No more volume bar pop-ups anymore. Set-up overall was a breeze with an Android Phone and it also has built-in Android TV, Chromecast, and all of your favorite apps with the option to add more. Another bug I ran into was Netflix wouldn't launch while every other app would, I had to cycle the power by unplugging the TV and Netflix was working again. Overall very happy with the TV, the picture quality is a pretty huge step-up from my previous JU7100. As advertised, contrast is excellent, sports look great, movies look great, 4K HDR/Dolby Vision content looks great (Netflix, Youtube). Amazing blacks!!! I did disable the Motiion enhancement as I do on all TVs and fast moving sports still do great. Hopefully it lasts 3-4 +years!!!

Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Purchased the 65, worth it. BB delivery ran 2-hours late but they called. After arriving, I was able to see inside the rented Enterprise truck where all the TVs for delivery were secured properly and upright ^-^!! Carefully unboxed and flipped, I attached the stand. It takes a bit of muscle and care to press the sides and lift, but very doable. Two people are ideal, yet when alone... Turned on, WiFi connected, the H9F updated its system. I like Android, and have not experienced the reported lag, but I do see the bit of shadow in the corners as reported. There is no Dirty Screen Effect present. This machine upscales nicely, HD content is lovely and the built-in speakers are supergood! 100% pleased with purchase.

Nice picture with a few app issues
Posted .Tl;dr: Good colors, deep blacks, Android TV at a great price with a very useable interface. 30 degree off axis viewing sitting on a 28” wide base displaying fast motion well with the right setting. Decent sound without a soundbar. Made in Mexico. Prime video and Netflix apps are not usable as of this review. First, Hisense is a for-real brand of TV. If you search the web, you’ll find they do as much R&D on displays as Samsung and Sony. They’ve been marketed in the US as a “value” brand, but really have the same technology prowess as the more established brands. This will be evident when you turn on the set and see the sharp picture and gorgeous colors that a quality 4K bluray disk produces on this set. Reviews from several reputable sites (rtings, Tom’s Hardware, Cnet) put this set head to head with Samsung’s Q90 and it comes out favorably, despite being half the cost. It uses the same color display technology but uses 140 local dimming zones instead of 480 on Samsung. More than competing sets from TCL (series 6) and Vizio (Quantum P Series). It’s well calibrated out of the box. There’s also a calibration menu if you want to adjust for the best picture. Amazon has a couple of calibration disks to choose from. Since you’re not comparing to other sets once you get it home, I’ll focus on usability. It has a voice control remote, but will also work with IR universal reports.Hisense included Android TV with this series which allows you to natively run apps from Hulu and many other providers. Netflix is preinstalled, but I couldn’t get it to work. Hisense support indicated that Amazon is also incompatible with their set. There are 4 HDMI 2.2 ports on the side and an optical audio out for versatility with your set up. The apps run quickly with full functionality once you sign in. Setup was very straightforward if you have a smartphone, especially if it’s Android based. While Android TV offers more channels/apps than any other embedded TV platform, support may be an issue, as was the case with Netflix and Amazon. Fortunately for me, I have a 4K Blu Ray with those apps. The stand is significantly narrower than other sets this size. It sits 28” wide under the set and 11” deep. There’s space under the set to lay a movie box, dust, and otherwise keep a neat area. If you have a narrower TV stand already, you likely won’t have to purchase a new one for this set. TCL’s is 48” wide by comparison and would have cost an additional $100-200 for a stand in my house, as I was moving up from a 50” Panasonic plasma set with a center stand. A soundbar fits easily in front of the set, without blocking the bottom of the screen. Off axis viewing is my only gripe with this set. Once you’ve moved ~30 degrees off center, it becomes noticeably dimmer and the colors start to shift. This was never an issue with my plasma set. Sports look very good on the Hisense compared to the Panasonic. No noticeable blurring in baseball or football. Hopefully, hockey will look the same! For those concerned about a Chinese company, this set is actually made in Mexico, not China (unlike many of its more expensive competitors). There’s a lot of plastic parts, which I’m sure contribute to the lower price. It’s not the sturdiest set on a stand, but since the stand is sturdy and I don’t live in an earthquake prone area I’m not too worried. Overall, this was a great upgrade for me from my 10 year old plasma. While the motion isn’t quite as sharp, it’s good enough for the action movies and TV dramas that I enjoy the most. The deep contrast and wide color space more than make up for the minor drop in motion smoothing. This is a very good set and ALSO has an extremely competitive price. I predict Best Buy will have a hard time keeping these in stock.

Vibrant Colors, Great 4K Image, Android TV a Plus.
Posted .Let me start off by saying that the amount of TV you get for the price is remarkable. Things that stand out on this TV is its excellent 4K image quality, vibrant colors, and smart apps. The image quality isn’t exceptional right out of the box, but after adjusting the settings, it started to produce the cinematic look and feel I was accustomed to with my plasma TV. This includes dark blacks, natural warm colors, bright whites that are not too blown out, and a natural refresh rate (avoiding the soap opera effect). The website RTINGS.com was a good source for learning the best image settings for this TV model. At some point, I’d like to get the TV professionally calibrated, but until I get around to doing it, I’m very satisfied with the adjustments I made. My only concern with the TV is there is a lack of uniformity in image brightness at the corners. It’s not really noticeable unless you pause the TV with a bright or white background, and specifically look at the corners for a slightly less white image. This may be a product of my specific TV, not the whole line, so I’ll be contacting Hisense to see if this is normal. Otherwise, the rest of the TV’s fit-and-finish is quite impressive. The bezel is barely there; it’s reasonably thin and light, and the bottom bezel is nicely accented in a silver color. A quick side note: at first, I thought the bottom silver bezel was poorly made, but I realized that there was a thin plastic film placed on it for shipping. Once I removed the plastic along the bottom, the quality of the bezel was able to show with its clean lines and sharp looking edges. In terms of setting up the TV, it’s really important to connect it to your home Wi-Fi and allow it to do a few system updates before you begin using it. The TV should notify you soon after starting it up that it needs to update itself. I believe it did a couple of updates which took about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Afterwards, I was able to use the included apps without any issues. I tested Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and YouTube among others. They all did well streaming content in high definition with good colors and clarity. I even tested the Optical Out connection behind the TV, and it didn’t have any problems sending Dolby Digital to my receiver. I did run into a hiccup when trying to cast my cell phone’s screen to the TV. On my first attempt, I selected the screen sharing option (Smart View) on my Samsung phone and selected my Android TV to establish a connection. It never did connect after a minute, so I restarted my phone and restarted the TV (Menu, Settings, About, Restart) and afterwards my phone seamlessly connected. I was able to wirelessly share photos and videos from my phone to the TV. For the most part, the videos streamed well, but at times they would become a little choppy if there was a lot of fast motion occurring. Another thing worth mentioning is this TV does not have component connections (separate red, blue, and green) video inputs on the back. It does have traditional composite (red and yellow) though. I have an old DVD player that uses component connections, so I had to purchase a basic component to HDMI switch to make the connection. As most devices use HDMI as the main connection, the lack of component connections may not be an issue for most people. Otherwise, I couldn’t be happier with this TV. The colors are vibrant, and it has solid contrast (dark blacks, bright whites, and a wide range of shades in-between). Again, for the price, I’m really impressed in this TVs overall package.

Great TV, Especially For The Price
Posted .OK, let me just open with the blanket statement that this really is an excellent TV. I have had 3 experiences recently with Hisense TV's and they went from very bad (55" H9+) to pretty dang solid (55" H8F) then to excellent with this 65" H9F. The latter two did a great deal in saving my view of Hisense and their overall reputation. Lets start with the initial experience... It came well packaged, with four solid cardboard corners heavily shrink-wrapped around the factory box. A couple cuts from my handy Benchmade knife and I was able to get to the consumer package the TV left the factory with. Another couple of quick cuts and the top of the box was ready to have the TV removed. One thing that I really like about this TV and the H8F is they both had plastic bags with "handles" on the top. Simply grab the "handles" on the bag and the TV was easily pulled out. Important note, I would highly recommend having a second person to help unpack and do the initial setup. One person could do it, but for the sake of assuring the welfare of your new TV, two is better. On that note, please remember it IS a big TV... It's 65 pounds or so with all it's packaging and without packaging, its approximately 36" x 57" and with the base of the stand, it's about 11"deep. Setting the legs a was literally a one minute job. Two stands, four screws and one Phillips head screwdriver. Easy money. The other inclusions were the ubiquitous multi-language manuals, power chord, remote and batteries. Plugged it in and now lets see what happens when we power it on. SW set up was incredibly easy with Android TV. Power on, answer a few questions, agree to set-up with Google and, boom, within two minutes your WiFI is ready as well as the basics to most of your apps (Netflix, Plex, Vudu etcetera). That was great. Super simple, fast and utterly intuitive. The remote includes a microphone that supports Google Assistant. It works as expected. I'm not going into the multitude of options and power of Google Assistant, but suffice it to say it works well. OK, we are ready to to see this unit in action. First test was my wife's favorite show, "I'm Sorry" on Netflix app built into TV. The picture was fantastic, especially for a TV at this price. The sound was also impressive (for what it's worth) on a flat panel, That said, I believe most people installing a TV this size and video quality will bypass the stock TV speakers and instead use a soundbar/sub combo or a stand alone home theater sound system, so I won't dwell too much on sound, but it is pretty good. Next I watched the Netflix series "Our Planet" from the Dish Network receiver in 4K UHD with HDR. The picture was absolutely stunning. It was easily on par with my other 65" 4K UHD TV that cost several hundred dollars more. Very impressive. I'm not going to go into the specific specs because you can get them all over, but this does support HDR / HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. It also has a full and sightly above standard number of inputs / outputs for a decent upper mid-level TV. Impressive. One item I will point out where this TV really shines is in it's field of view. With this TV, I can easily walk into the kitchen and from 30' + away and roughly 160 degrees in the daytime, the brightness and field of vision is excellent. Very impressive. **PLEASE NOTE** This product was provided to me at no cost in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. This review is exactly that: Honest and unbiased. The price played no role in the tone or honesty of this review.

Best Picture for Price
Posted .The HiSense 65H9F is a great value for your money. It is on par with other big name brand televisions out there. Unboxing was easy, I appreciated that it came in a plastic bag with handles that you could use to lift the tv out. Putting on the feet was easy too and it just involved 4 screws. Make sure you calibrate your picture settings to get the best out of this television. There are some online sites that have settings you can try out to get the best picture. With that being said once you have everything setup the picture you get for the price of this television is gorgeous. The bezels on this television are also thin making screen real estate look huge. I’ve tried watching Netflix content with 4K Dolby Vision and this thing performs like a much more expensive TV. I’ve also tried 4K content on YouTube and the H9F shines. The blacks are inky and the scenes are sharp. It actually performs better than my much more expensive television I bought last year. Some of these manufacturers will have competition with HiSense with the release of the H9F. This tv also has 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB ports, ULed, Full array local active zones, Quantum dot, Dolby Vision HDR, Android TV. As far as the sound I haven’t tested it yet as I have it connected to my soundbar out of the box, which it connected seamlessly to. I’m happy to see manufacturers producing products like this that give you some much more for your money. You get a great picture without having to spend so much on another brand with similar performance. Overall I’d recommend getting this television if you are looking for the latest in 4K and don’t want to spent more.

Really nice for many reasons
Posted .I'll open with admission that when it comes to televisions, I've been a name brand snob for many, many years. Even among the top names it's been hard to convince me to consider anything other than two of them. I've been awakened. The Hisense H9F 65" Smart TV is really nice. Starting with beautiful real metal details such as the thin brushed bezel and the matte base, then the super easy Android/Google Assistant set up and features and finishing with the all-important picture quality - I'm impressed. I find myself turning it on for no reason other than to mess around with the features and see the beautiful images moving across the screen. The remote is appropriately simple. Buttons include the standard (numerals, directional, volume, channels and stop/pause/play, etc) and also a Google Assistant button allowing you to go home and exercise voice commands ("Play Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown") the screen will show options and you just pick one. The Android interface is intuitive and pleasing to the eye. There are tons of apps to download from Google Play including shows, music services and games. Most of your favorite wirecutter TV services are available too. Finally, the sound is pretty good for a flat screen. I'll still add a sound bar and subwoofer because I geek-out and love watching live concert recordings at home, but the average person will enjoy the native sound.

So close to Great
Posted .Super excited to experience my first Android TV. Set up was as easy as signing into a new Chromebook or cell phone. And excited to put it through it's paces when the NBA season starts up! After setting it all up and using it I have some pros and cons. Pros: - The picture quality is straight up excellent. Deep blacks and punchy vibrant colors to compete with the Samsung's and LG's. - The UI is nice and clean, uncluttered with a bunch of unnecessary things. - The design is not something you really talk about a large rectangle but it has a near borderless display which is just excellent. - Google and Google assistant integration just makes using it a little easier. Cons: - The UI is very laggy, for my setup, I only use a few apps and it just takes too long for the TV to respond. Navigating through the menu and apps is slow. Using the voice control seems to be the quickest way to get where you want to be. Hopefully and update is pushed out to address it. Overall I feel this is a good TV that just needs some tweaking mostly to the processing of tasks to be great/amazing.

Q: QuestionAre the quantum dot aspects comparable to Samsung or Vizio?
Asked by RC2020.
- A:Answer It's comparable to the Vizio P series quantum 2019 if not better because of the much better OS and pretty close to Samsung q80 2019 model at less than half the price.trust me I checked every tv out in person before I pulled the trigger.

Q: QuestionI have a 2018 samsung Q6FN how would this tv compare. They don't have this tv in my local store or anywhere for that matter love the price but need to know if I should get this or save up more for the vizio p series or another Qled.
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer Go to Rtings.com and search "Compare tvs" The Hisense H8F is a tad bit better than the 2018 Q6F because it is a Fully Backlit Panel. The Q6F is only edge lit. They haven't done a test on the H9f yet but my assumption is that it'll be an exponential difference between your Q6F and this H9F. Pull the trigger if you can

Q: QuestionHow is the H9F in a dark room can it be to bright and any problem with dead pixels .
Asked by andynoburnin.
- A:Answer No dead pixels, and for it being in a darkroom I thought the TV turned off there for a minute because the dark in the TV is so great. It has the truest black I've ever seen in a TV. I highly recommended it

Q: QuestionCan you get the Amazon Prime Video app on this?
Asked by Chris.
- A:Answer Just bought this TV as of 11/15/2019 and there is no Prime Video in the Play Store even after an update to the TV. I had to manually install it onto the TV. The following instructions will help install Prime Video onto this Hisense H9F TV and possibly other Android TVs as well. 1. Put the latest "Prime Video APK" (search Google) on the root of a flash drive (FAT32 preferred). 2. Plug flash drive into TV. A prompt may come up to show the flash drive and if you would like to "Open" it. Open the flash drive. (If this doesn't come up, go download a "file explorer" from the Play Store and install a file explorer.) Browse for the "Prime Video APK" and select it and install. 3. A prompt will show up about installing this "Unknown source." Click okay or yes, and this should take you to settings to check, "Allow unknown sources". Check "Allow." 4. Click okay to install the "Prime Video APK" and now the Prime Video app should be in the Google Apps now.
