A: I bought this converter to use with my new LG tv and an analog receiver. I used an RCA (red and white) cable from my receiver to the device, then an optical cable from the device to the tv. Works great. The optical cable was a separate purchase, it did not come with the converter.
A: I had the same problem. Went on Google and found the answer. There is a SOUND setting on your TV. I was instructed to switch it away from the factory setting to the alternate choice and it work fine immediately. Unfortunately, I don't remember the two SOUND setting choices - but you may be able to find the same site that I found - or just try to look at the SOUND setting options on your TV. and switch them.
