POOR MATERIALS - PANEL COMES OFF -PLASTICS BREAK -

7 year newer LG Micro/Convection than our last one
||Posted .Some nice new features, I like being able to turn the display off. Also like the taller convection rack, works better. Micro is more powerful even though watts are the same. Chime is soothing, not annoying like older model. Also some nice one-touch preset modes (love the "soften" and "melt" options.) Intuitive to use, nice prompts on display. Wouldn't be without one in our RV.

Not a great microwave
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I've had other brands of combination microwave / convection ovens before and have liked them much better. I primarily use it as a microwave. It doesn't do a lot of microwave things particularly well. Examples: (1) You cannot touch a number pad button (like "2") and get 2 minutes of microwave cooking. (2) The auto cook feature for commonly microwaved items doesn't have a guide (except in the instruction book). When you select that item, it only tells you to choose 1 - 6, but there's no indication what those selections are for (and no sticker in the unit with that information.) (3) There's no sensor re-heating for a beverage. (But there is a programmed item to melt marshmallows. Who needs that?) It is going to take A LOT of time with the user's manual to learn to use the appliance to reasonable proficiency. I expect to be able to do that without having to constantly look things up.

- A:Answer The perception of how quiet or how loud the LG - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Convection Microwave - Stainless-Steel, Model # LMVH1711ST is to someone is very subjective. What you might consider as being loud may not be loud to someone else. The unit itself is quiet in normal operation, but with a Vent Air Flow (CFM) of 300, you will definitely hear the fan when it turns on...^IFV

Q: QuestionFeaturesWhy does it say that this model does not have a toasting feature? I though all the ovens which had convection cooking could toast? I need one that toasts bread crisp. Does it not also brown or grill then? How about baking?

- A:Answer Hi DesertGal. The LG - 1.7 Cu. Ft. Over-the-Range Convection Microwave in Stainless-Steel, Model # LMVH1711ST does not have heating elements in it that you can use to toast. The Microwave ovens that bill themselves as being a combination microwave/toaster oven, have heating elements in them that handle the toasting function otherwise toast made from a convection microwave is not going to taste very good. On the other hand, if the microwave had a broiler function, if you watched it closely and turned the bread over when necessary you would be able to toast with it...IFV

It is shipped with the blower assembled for room venting. If you want wall venting or roof venting, you would need to adjust the blower...^IFV
