Q: is this compatible and work plug and play with a recently-purchased iMac?
A: No, the product is not compatible with Mac Os.

Q: will this work with a tablet if it has a vcl player?
A: if the tables does not have a USB connection, probably not. If it has, I believe it will work if the tablet has Windows Operating System. And it is VLC player if I am not wrong
Q: Can I burn dual-layer blu-rays (50 GB) on this device?
A: In theory yes, but I haven't burnt any yet. With its predecessor I did many times.
Q: If I want MS Office, do I have to buy an external drive?
A: When you purchase Office, the software is a download from Microsoft. There is no CD. I just installed office on my iPad, iPhone, and a Surface Pro. The installation was simple.
Q: does this item include software to play bluray movies
A: Yes. It came with a program called CyberLink PowerDVD software and will play both dvd and bluray formats, as well as a CyberLink Media Suite package. Hope this helps?
