A: Background...We've had the LG 4616 induction range for 2 weeks. After 30 years of gas cooktops, we decided to go with new technology. It was a good decision. Regarding the cooktop surface...It seems durable and able to withstand daily use without scratching. One observation...thoroughly clean the the bottom of your pots. Remove all built-up and burnt on food, etc. Haven't tried it yet, but dragging old cast iron with residue on the bottom might scratch the cooktop, so clean the bottom first. Also, keep the cooktop clean. There are plenty of products, even water and a clean rag will work. I noticed you can buy silicone induction cooktop mats to protect the surface and you can slide your pots and skillets on that. Summary: 1. The cooktop surface doesn't seem prone to scratching, if you keep the bottom of your vessels clean. 2. I have no idea about scratching and its impact on induction performance. Note: This glass-ceramic surface seems pretty tough and resilient.
A: The owner's manual for the LG 6.3 cu. ft. Smart wi-fi Enabled Induction Slide-in Range with ProBake Convection® and EasyClean®, Model # LSE4616ST advises that cookware should be centered correctly on the surface of the cooking element and that the pan should have a flat bottom and straight sides. Pan size must meet or exceed the recommended size for the cooking element. The cooking-element sensors located below the cooktop surface require certain cookware conditions to be met before the induction cooking elements can operate. The cooking zone LED bar may display a pan sensing error message. If a cooking element is activated and no cookware is detected, the affected induction cooking zone LED bar will fluctuate. If the cookware does not meet the correct conditions, the cooking zone may not heat. There are four cooking elements on the induction cooktop. Each element requires a minimum pan size to be used effectively. The inner ring of each cooking element is a guide to the minimum pan size. The bottom of the pan must fully cover the inner ring for proper cooking to occur. The Minimum Pan Size for the 8" Left Front element is 7.5" and that for the 11" Right Front element is 9.5" as you noted which means that you cannot use pans smaller than the minimum pan size as explained above, including woks that are 5-6 inches. The 6": Left Rear and 6" Right Rear element have minimum pan sizes of 5.5 inches and a flat bottomed pan with straight sizes as described above that has a diameter of 6" can be used. on them. You can use the cross that marks each cooking element to help determine the maximum pan size. After centering the cookware on the cooking element, the cookware should not extend more than ½ʺ beyond the edge of the cross on the cooking element. The pan must make full contact with the glass surface without the bottom of the pan touching the metal cooktop trim. If the correct induction cookware—centered on any of the active cooking elements—is too small, the affected cooking element’s LED bar fluctuates and the pan does not heat...^IFV
Q: are the oven racks on glide rollers?
A: No. They are not easy-glide racks like came with my previous GE Profile induction stove. I was VERY disappointed when I realized that for a $3,000 stove LG took the cheap route and put in oven racks that scrape along the sides of the oven walls just like they did 50-75 years ago on all stoves and like they still do on cheap models. Shame on LG for taking the low road on this feature. I tried to use the racks from my old GE stove, but they were bigger than the ones in the LG oven, so would not fit. Boo hiss! These cheap racks suck.
A: While you can hear the fan, it is not loud. There is no need to raise your voice to talk over it.
Q: Would I be able to use a pressure canner on this stove top or on Any of the LG smooth stove tops
A: Yes, a canner can be used with this range. ^CP

A: 10", 7", and two 6". Yes, if you put a pan that is too small for the burner ie, a 6 inch pan on the 10 inch spot, it will play a tune and turn off. Need to have induction cookware to make sure the magnets work. I love this stove, It's nice to boil water in 2 minutes in a large 6 qt pot.
Q: Can I use Calphalon on an induction cooktop?
A: It depends. Take a magnet and touch it to the bottom of the pan. If the magnate sticks you can use it. I have some Calphalon that worked and some that didn’t.
