Not what you think Unlocked Means
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stop before you but this phone is unlocked but do not try to use it with another carrier. It will take buy Greatcall has an error 5 that comes up. Greatcall will not help you unless you buy their service. I have been trying to get my Moms phone working for weeks. Nobody tells you alot of the problems you have to overcome with another carrier and no warnings on product. This is the only time I've ever been disappointed with Best Buy.

GreatCall Smart 2 phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the phone for about a month now. I had their previous smart phone so the learning curve wasn't bad. If you don't go online or don't want to go online much, it's a decent phone. Or if you have WiFi, going online should be fine. I've gotten decent reception in all the places I've gone so far. Haven't been to western Nebraska yet, so we'll see how that goes over Thanksgiving. My previous phone worked there so I'm guessing this one will as well. Pros: not too hard for me to figure out and I can be technologically challenged at times. The price is reasonable which was a big reason to buy this phone. I like to use one app for work and it's works fine. Caveat to follow. I've also checked out my emails and a couple of other things and all work. Cons: This phone eats data like crazy if you don't have WiFi which we don't. It has 6 apps that run continuously and eat data for no reason that I can figure out. I hunted around and figured out how to turn the data OFF, so now I only turn it on to go online briefly or to retrieve pictures that have been texted to me. It's also a pain to try to get the pictures off the phone and into my computer without emailing them to myself. I'm still working on that. The camera isn't the best, but I use a point and shoot or DSLR most of the time, so that's not a problem. I'd buy this phone again. In an emergency I can go online. I can call and text without issues, and those are the main reasons I bought the phone anyway. It has a nice big screen which is helpful.

Wonderful alternative for standard smartphones!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this phone for my 74 year old mom a week ago. She struggles with touch screen technology and had been using a flip phone for years. The Jitterbug’s user friendly home screen is the perfect transition for gaining confidence in more modern technology. She enjoys the large, easy to read/understand icons and the clear pathways to follow in order to do simple tasks. The only issue we have so far is that the battery life seems questionable. We were told that the initial download of content tends to drain the battery, so we are hopeful that it won’t be an ongoing issue. The company does, however, send a car charger after purchasing the phone (free of charge) so at least we feel confident that she will be safe when out and about. We are hopeful that this phone will finally allow my mom to overcome her fear of technology.

good so far
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.just went from my trusty samsung flip phone with SPrint to Great call JItterbug Smart 2 phone. Phone is nice size - easy to read - easy to use so far. Camera is good. It needs to be charged everyday though which i find annoying. Also - when i get a text if i'm not right on top of the phone I don't hear that a text came in and I have the volume all the way up. Customer service at Best BUy was exemplary. Customer service at Great Call is very good but you have to wait a minimum of 15 minutes on the phone to speak with someone. I'm used to SPrint - and waiting not even a minute. SInce this is my first smartphone I feel for what I paid it is a good deal and i'm able to operate it. WOuld recommend for those who are nervous about smartphones as I am and who need someone easy and simple.

Good smartphone for seniors
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After much research, I decided to get this phone for my 92-yr-old, hearing-impaired dad -- he wanted "a phone like [mine], not an "old-fashioned" one -- to replace his flip-phone. The simplified home screen option on the Jitterbug is large and easy for him to read, but he's having a little difficulty mastering the steps to make calls. The sound quality is good, but not not the volume -- he can't hear the callers unless he puts them on the speaker (we set his to max volume). He's determined to figure it out, so time will tell. All things considered, it's a good phone for someone who wants a smartphone that's simple to use but can be modified for more advanced users (you can switch from the "senior setting" to android easily). Unfortunately, as others have noted, it may not be a good fit for seniors with with severe hearing loss despite the use of hearing aids.

Great SmartPhone for a beginner or for seniors
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is the cats meow. Very simple; large print so no need to reach for the cheater glasses. Option to view app's with icons or scroll in a row. Great reception even in a rural area. I absolutely love it. Customer service was friendly and accommodating in helping me with a few minor questions. The price and plans available are very affordable.

Great phone for older users
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased this phone for our 96 year old father. He had always used a flip phone but his eyes made it extremely difficult for him to see the screen. We are very pleased with the phone except for the Call 5* feature button, not the service. Due to it's location it is EXTREMELY easy to touch in error. The operators are incredibly responsive and very understanding. They keep reassuring my father that it happens to everyone using the phone but it doesn't change the fact that the button is in a very poor location.

All the features, easy to use, and a good price!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My old Jitterbug Flip phone finally died so I replaced it with the Smart Phone 2. They say this phone is easy to use, but it does have a learning curve for someone like me who is not familiar with a smartphone. The instruction manual and on-screen help will have you up to speed in no time. I have turned off some of the phone functions I don't intend to use; that saves battery power and gets rid of the clutter. I can always turn them back on later. And Great Call has the BEST customer service I have ever received from anyone. They are available to help you over the phone if you have questions. You will be glad you purchased this phone.

Q: QuestionIs the quality and service good?
Asked by Jordan.
- A:Answer I recently bought one for my mother but didn't disconnect the land line yet until we saw if the Jitterbug worked well. She can hear me fine with we talk (I have an iPhone) -- but the quality of her replies to me is absolutely horrible. The sound is distorted, it sounds like she's in the bottom of a well, and most of the time the words are not clear enough to understand. It is not her articulation that is the problem. On her landline or portable phones, I have no difficulty whatsoever understanding her. I was very disappointed in that particular feature. Everything else on the phone is fine. I may keep service for another month and then cancel it to try another kind of phone. I hate to do that as I like the 5-Star feature -- but a basically one-sided conversation is pretty useless to me.

Q: QuestionAm 87 years old Is this a one time purchase, no monthly payments, and will it work during power outages for emergency calls?
Asked by Bunny.
- A:Answer Hi, Bunny! I just recently purchased my phone (early January/2020) so don't know if the emergency calls work during a power outage, but it's a very good question, which I need to also explore. The phone purchase price is a 1 time cost, and the activation fee is a 1 time cost. However, there are monthly payments which can be automatically deducted from your credit card or debit card, or you can firmly state you want paper statements sent to you through the mail which you can pay by check. You can also make a payment by phone by using their automated system (Option #1) or their Customer Care Advisor (Option #2) but this one has a $5.00 fee each time. The monthly charges vary depending on which plans you select which are based on your choice of Monthly Minutes/Monthly Texts/Monthly Data (Internet/email, etc) and the Urgent 5 Star Response options, plus fees and taxes. The phone number for Great Call is 1-800-733-6632 or you can check out the plans on the internet at greatcall.com. (Note: Extras like screen protector, case are all extra expenses). The only things included with your phone are the home charger and the quick guide and manual, which to me, aren't thorough enough. Hope this helps a little. Good Luck and Take Care!

Q: Questioncan I receive a bill monthly in the mail?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes you can, by FIRMLY requesting monthly paper billings in the mail. I'm a recent purchaser and did receive my first statement in the mail. However, at first, they did put it on my credit card as an auto payment, which I had NOT requested. So, I had to call them and tell them to CHANGE that TO MONTHLY BILLINGS thru the MAIL, which was what I had originally asked for. And, after this call, they did change it as I requested. NOTE: Make sure to check your credit card statement to make sure this doesn't happen to you and so you can correct them if it does. Hope this helps!

Q: QuestionHow durable is the screen? Does it come with a screen saver or does it need one?
Asked by mrsb.
- A:Answer The Jitterbug Smart2 phone screen needs to be protected. We suggest purchasing the accessories to protect it. We have the temper glass screen case and the gel case.

Q: QuestionWill I be able to download my favorite apps, like spotify, JW. org. etc.?
Asked by Mikki.
- A:Answer Yes, you can download Spotify, but you can't download multiple apps since this device only has 2GB of phone memory.

Q: QuestionDOES THE GREATCALL PHONE RETAIN PHONE NUMBERS WHEN SOMEONE CALLS YOU. WHAT APPS ARE ALREADY ON THIS?
Asked by GG.
- A:Answer Yes, but the user interface is much more cumbersome than it looks. There is a call history but the way it is displayed can be confusing for geriatric users. In order to place calls, it takes 5 to 6 screen taps before the phone starts ringing. There aren't really any speed dials or shortcuts like you'd think would be available for a senior-friendly phone.

Q: QuestionHow much storage is in the phone for pictures before it gets full? can more memory be added? To expand the memory like external storage devise? Can you transfer pictures off phone to computer if so do I need a app to do that?
Asked by Smokeum.
- A:Answer The Jitterbug Smart 2 has 16GB of storage and it can have up to 32GB added with a microSD card. You are also able to download pictures to the computer to free up storage.
