Q: Is this running i5 How many USB ports

A: It is running an M series processor which is not as powerful as the i5 but offers a longer battery life for the system as it consumes less power. There is one USB port on the system but you can always purchase a small USB hub for additional ports for cheap.

Q: Does this come with pen and keyboard/typecover? Do you honor student discount?

A: This particular unit has a keyboard included (which is what makes it a good deal). It does not have a pen - you have to buy it separately. There are no current student deals on the Surface at Best Buy (though that could change next week).

Q: What is the ram 4 gb or 8 gb

A: 4 gb. :(

Q: Does it come with the Microsoft word program and excel?

A: It comes with the limited app form of Office, which you can get free from the MS store with any pc. If you're a student you can log on and get the regular Office offerings for free.

Q: Since this one claims to be "New", that means Microsoft already fixed the caveat the other ones came with? I'm talking about backlight bleed along the bottom edge of the panel.

A: I'm not sure, but keep in mind this is the 4 GB model and that is ridiculously low for Windows 10 and overpriced.

Q: Does it have any extra space to upgrade the 4gb of ram? Is it able to be opened up by an amateur?

A: You cannot add more memory. In addition to being extremely difficult to open, the memory is soldered onto the motherboard.

Q: An you use an external cd drive to download cds.

A: Yes, you can use an external CD drive.

Q: Can the black Friday deal be ordered online? Or do you have to go in person to a physical store.
