Love my new addition to my Smart Home!
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Simple to install, looks good and functions just as advertised. If you do your research and check preparation instructions, you won't have any trouble. Altogether, it took me about 45 min to an hour to install. However, I'm one of these people who reads the instructions, studies the assemblies and dry runs it. The only issue that I had was that I needed to make the bolt hole in the door frame a little deeper. That's the only place where I feel the product could help troubleshoot more effectively. After I installed it, set it up and turned things on, it did a self-test. It told me it couldn't finish the installation and I needed to check my set up. However, it didn't give any real clue as to what was actually wrong. After watching closely a few times, I was able to see where the trouble was. When it tried to lock by itself, the bolt wasn't able to go as deep as it needed to go. When I looked more closely at the instructions, I could see where it mentioned how deep the hole needed to be. Once I realized that, I had it fixed in 5 minutes with a hole drill (that I have because I'm a handly kind-of-guy). A chisel would have worked too, but this was easier for me. Once the hole was about another 1/2" deeper - it worked as smooth as silk. In the one picture, the assembly can be seen as being slightly out of level. This is because the original lock that was installed, was installed slightly out of wack. No-fault of this lock. I've already got some nest products: Smoke alarms and thermostat, so I had the app already installed. Adding the lock was as simple as a few taps from within the app and all done. Finding the right location for the (included) Nest Connect took a few extra minutes, but overall is a painless process. Have patience though! My wife and I love it! We especially like that we can give unique entry codes to different people and can put these on a schedule. Also handy is the ability to remotely unlock/lock the door and check the status of the lock itself. Next up: Nest doorbell!!

Smart Lock Made easy
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Easy to install lock. Fit well in my existing door mounting hole. I kept getting errors on the lock function because my latch hole was not deep enough. Required me to purchase a wood auger to drill out the wood to the required depth. After that locks and unlocks with the app. Love the google integration. Hey google is the front door locked or hey google lock the front door is great. Also love being able to lock or unlock the door from the app. Bundled with the required nest connect. Keyless lock is great for us but might be a problem in situations where it is the only access to the home.

||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I’ve been debating about an insta lock since I moved in 2018.. on my list of home improvements. This yr my daughter turned ten I wanted her to be able to get in in case I I was running late when she got off the bus .. this great I don’t have to worry about her loosing her key & we made the code personal so she won’t forget, I can also let her with my phone if I need to !

So convenient
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. With these locks and a ring video on my door there’s no more need to pay for an alarm service. I am instantly alerted when my door is opened and if I issued them a code it will tell me who opened it as well. I can call 911 on any intruder from anywhere in the world.

A really well engineered smart lock!
||Posted .This lock was fairly easy to install (had to watch a video on it to get help). The instructions are somewhat lacking. Excellent quality. My door hole wasn't put in exactly right and I needed to file down one side of the hole so everything lined up (a fault of my contractor). Once installed the set up went flawlessly and was easy to get working including installing and setting up the app. I really like this lock. It works great and looks great. Best purchase I've made in a long time. The best thing is the automatic locking in case we forget to lock the door.

Getting into my house has never been so easy
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Just installed this yesterday and it took less than 30 min. Absolutely love it! So easy to use and hook up to my iPhone and google system. Still figuring out features like privacy mode but it’s already proving to be such a great decision. I set pins for my siblings that visit often and will be setting one for my contractor, cleaners and dog walker. In the past, it was such a challenge coordinating keys with those that needed access. The app lets you keep track of who comes and goes under their pin, which I like a lot. I’m going to set up my hello nest system next so I can’t wait to use that alongside this. The polished brass is a bit too plastic looking for my liking and I’m afraid of it not holding up forever, but time will only tell. In the meantime, I’m very happy with this purchase!

Q: QuestionWhat happens if the power is out and you need to enter your home?
Asked by Jeff.
- A:Answer It's powered by 4 AA batteries, so no problem in the event of main line power loss. If you let those batteries die, it's still possible to use the lock with a 9-volt battery.
Answered by Mike
Q: QuestionHow long do the batteries last typically?
Asked by Mickey.
- A:Answer This is all dependent on the amount of use the Nest x Yale lock receives in the home, but should be expected to last roughly one year if not more.
Answered by Nest Support
Q: QuestionIf I already have a nest thermostat will this work with the existing nest hub?
Asked by CuriousAunt.
- A:Answer The lock comes with a nest connect which connects it to your WiFi network. You can control your lock and thermostat from the same hub or app on your phone.

Q: QuestionHow long does the battery last with high usage
Asked by Deys.
- A:Answer Great question! Battery life certainly depends on usage, but your Nest x Yale Lock will notify you via the Nest app when its batteries are getting low. Here's a great support article that discusses battery life and what do in the event your batteries are low: https://nest.com/support/article/FAQs-about-the-Nest-Yale-Lock#Is-wired-or-battery

Q: QuestionGood day, u have two questions: 1) can the lock be used externally? So that means both sides of the lock will be exposed to rain , sun etc 2) What’s the furthest the nest connect can be from the lock? Thanks
Asked by Clint.
- A:Answer No on outdoor use. This lock is meant to be used indoors. Range shouldn't be a problem but you will need several Nest Connect's to extend the range.
