Love this. Bought after much searching. Wanted best bang for the buck. Needed to be used inside and outside. Plenty bright. Great picture. I use with old 5.1 computer speaker system. Internal speaker not good for movie effects. Works in a pinch.

After hours of research I decided on the Optoma HD27. Easy setup and very bright even in eco mode. I have it ceiling mounted with a 92 inch white silver ticket screen. Excellent picture quality out of the box. We use it for watching movies and sports. 3-D quality is very good with dlp link glasses. The only drawbacks are limited throw ratio making installation a little challenging and the fan is a little noisy but not terrible-not noticeable when the movie gets going. Built in speaker is convenient but I would suggest the use of a good quality surround system.

I reviewed several HD projectors in person and online. The one's that I viewed in person were HD 4k and were in the cost range of $3k-$5k. Way out of my price range. Then I reviewed the Optoma HD27 online since I could not visually see it in action. I took a chance and it turned out to be a great projector. I also bought a soundbar with with wireless sub to use and it works great. The only adjustment I had to make was to setup the cable TV and BluRay Smart player separate for the sound. I used the Optical connection for the Cable and the digital connection for the Blu-ray since it did not have an Optical out. For the price it is by far the best choice for a home theatre. I am projecting a 12 foot diagonal screen across our living room wall and it is great.

This projector worked fine but I had to return due to the lack of horizontal tilt. Lack of that feature means you can’t place it at an angle, you have to place it directly in front of the wall/screen you are projecting onto. NYC apartment renters will know how difficult it can be to set that up cleanly and efficiently. Aside from that, it had all the standard features you’d expect from a projector and the price was reasonable.
A:I have connected my Optoma 27 projector sound via a Bluetooth transmitter dongle (Aluratek ~ $30.00 at. Best Buy) to a Bluetooth speaker. Charge the transmitter for a couple of hours on your lap top. Plug it into the AUX on the back of the projector.
Turn on your Bluetooth receiver sound system (mine is an LG wireless sound bar from Best Buy). Turn on the Bluetooth dongle transmitter at the projector and you should get sound from your Bluetooth speakers. (Good quality)
I also tried a Bluetooth connection to my older LG surround sound system by plugging in a Bluetooth receiver to the sound system. It works but the sound quality is really bad because you lose resolution by transmitting through several connections.
Note: You connect a laptop to the projector via HDMI 1 port.
You must select the Optoma speaker on your laptop sound to send sound to the projector; then the dongle transmits to the sound bar. And remember Bluetooth only transmits 12 to 50' depending on your transmitter; the Aleurstek is good for 15'.
A:12.5. feet back. this is the measurement from your 110" screen back to the front of the lens of the projector. At least according to projector centrals calculator. Here is a screen shot attached.
A:yes it does. normally the common application would be -- one would run their source content via an HDMI cable to a receiver for surround sound, and out of the receiver to the projector for the video signal. that is how I have my system set up, and I mute the speaker built into the HD27 projector. this particular model from Optoma does not have a Optical port as other have stated, there probably are other models that do include that option, but the way to get audio out of this projector is via a 3.5mm audio jack (think headphone jack) and that would only be stereo not surround sound. Hope that helps.
A:The answer for your Mac book Air is yes you can you just need the appropriate adapter. Ideally we recommend a screen to project onto but you may use a white wall as well. With the wall you are using a smooth wall is recommended for the best image. Yet Select texture is acceptable.
