• A:Answer Registering with the company via the app is not the same thing as signing up for their 9.99 monthly service (annuity). You need the app to use the device. If you also want to sign up for their services you upload your readings to them and they will have their board certified physician review your readings. We did not sign up for their services as we can upload the readings to our cardiologist.

Q: QuestionDo you have to have a monthly subscription to get all 6 readings on the AliveCor - KardiaMobile 6L? Like if I just have my iPhone have the app for kardiamobile installed on my iPhone and the AliveCor - KardiaMobile 6L. Would that be all I need to get all?

• A:Answer Note to users of Apple Watch that does EKG. This Kardia device does not do anything different from your Apple Watch unless you buy the monthly or annual subscription. Without the subscription, this device only tells you if you have atrial fibrillation (your Watch already does that), whether you have bradycardia (slow heart beat; you can easily do this just by measuring your heart rate which your Watch already does), and whether you have tachycardia (fast heart beat; same thing — your Watch measures heart rate already). With the subscription, you get the following which your Watch does not detect: sinus rhythm with PVCs, SVE, and Wide QRS. I intended to purchase device to get frequent readings of whether I have any of these 3 other issues (the ones requiring a subscription) but I don’t want to pay a subscription. The device is expensive enough. Dumping this device until no subscription is needed for the full readings.

• A:Answer I am assuming you are referring to the single lead product. That's the first one I had. It is very useful and all most users will need. It is designed to produce a tracing in lead I, but you can make a slight manipulation to get a tracing in lead II. The 6L version can do that also, but for those who want even more information, it can create tracings in 6 leads at once. (I, II, III, AVL, AVR, and AVF)

Q: QuestionHas anyone used this with a Samsung Galaxy S10e? The company verified it has not been tested with that specific model. However, the S10 and S10+ have been and are in the compatible device list. Thanks!

• A:Answer To answer my own question in case anyone else wonders the same thing, I ended up taking a chance and purchasing this after chatting with a BestBuy rep online. They asked if I had tried to install the app--excellent thought that had not occurred to me. And, they verified that this item was returnable within so many days if I was not satisfied with it for any reason. So, I installed the app and it worked properly. I of course could not test it fully without the device, but since it said it was compatible and ran fine until the point of pairing, I chanced it. I ordered the device and it has been working perfectly smoothly. I also verified my Android OS version was on AliveCor's list of compatible devices, even though my specific device was not. It's was still a gamble, but I can confirm my particular Samsung Galaxy S10e works.

Q: QuestionJust wondering if the 6 lead version of Kardia can detect more than the Lead 1 version. For example, first and second degree heart blocks, PACs, PVCs. The Lead 1 version that I have now can only detect AFib, therefore not great at diagnosing palpitations

Q: QuestionI'm still confused in what I can expect for results without paying for the subscription. If I purchase the 6L will I get 6 separate graphs for my doctor to review? Can any of he graphs display atrial flutter for my doctor to review as well as myself?

• A:Answer Without the KardiaCare subscription you can download a basic determination such as tachycardia & the 6 readings ( Leads I, II, III, aVF, aVL, and aVR) as a PDF & send to your doctor as an attachment for further interpretation. With the KardiaCare subscription an advanced determination such as Sinus Rhythm with Supraventricular Ectopy (which should cover atrial flutter) would be displayed immediately with the 6 readings which you can also send to your doctor as a PDF. I have used the 6L with KardiaCare for 1 month and find it very helpful and user friendly to send abnormal readings to my cardiologist.

• A:Answer Yes, you may. The Kardiamobile devices detect the heart's electrical activity in the exact same manner as a professional ECG machine. If your pacemaker is firing, the "spikes" generated by the pacemaker will show up on tracings generated by the Kardia device and the Kardiamobile will not interfere with the pacemaker in any manner. • A:Answer Earlier answer is baloney. The device works with any mobile phone that runs recent Apple iOS or Android. That covers most phones in the USA--where BestBuy has stores. See the manufacturer's website if you have an old phone, for iOS/Android rev level requirements. Using the "6-lead" device does not require you to attach any wires to yourself. First you start the Kardia App on your phone. Then you lay the device on your leg just above your knee and press down evenly with two fingers of your left hand on the left pad and two fingers of your right hand on the right pad. The pad underneath needs to contact your knee well, so I dampen above the knee with one drop of water (no more) before I start. Then the App starts counting down and EKG traces move across the screen of your phone. That stops in 30 seconds. Then just email the resulting 4-page PDF to a computer with a printer and you've got a 6-lead EKG your doctor can read. To actually understand the magic of how KardiaMobile6L figures out 6 leads from 3 pads, you would need to know a lot more and study their patents!
