A:Answer 2 ways. It comes with a lighting adapter to hook up to an existing lighting cable and charger used for your iPad. When the cap comes off, you can plug the lighting tip right into the side of your iPad to charge too. The other way is preferable. But, if you forget, you are covered and in 5 minutes you get a partial charge, until you can plug it in to your charger.
