• A:Answer I live in upstate New York, and winter is tough to get a good read on battery life since cold kills batteries. However my experience is it takes about 4-5 hours to charge from being completely dead, depending on how cold it is when you bring it in. As far as battery life, in the cold (below freezing temps) I’ve been getting about a 4-5 weeks of use before it needs charged. I don’t have a lot of visitors, so the frequency of visitors and activation of the camera can affect the time frame for use.

Q: QuestionDoes this one have to be wired? Does it need a base or is it a stand alone? I have older model Arlo camera but would like a door bell that can be recorded vcr as well which I read this can be.

• A:Answer I am not sure if it is required, as the app came with a free 30 day trial with all the bells and whistles. But quite frankly, why wouldn’t you want one? The whole reason behind security is that somebody else is also monitoring and protecting your home. Review all the features - 27 different things you can monitor for - even with the basic plan - it’s well worth it.
