• A:Answer Hi Deanna, thank you for your question and interest in Model:HMB50152UC. The kitchen timer can be used when the appliance is turned off, or while a cooking mode is active. The kitchen timer continues to run if a cooking mode is selected. Depending on the cooking mode, the kitchen timer may not be visible, but it continues to count down and will show again when the cooking mode finishes.

Q: QuestionCan this microwave be mounted under a cabinet? Does it need to be vented?

• A:Answer Hi Mitch. Thank you for your question. Per the installation guide for this model, HMB85012UC, it requires a cabinet base that is flat and capable of supporting a weight of at least 142 lbs. We do have an Over-the-Range Microwave that is 2.1 cu. Ft., 1100 Watts and does not have to be mounted in a cabinet. It also provides 385 CFM. The model number for this is HMV5053U.

• A:Answer The sales rep in the Best Buy store sold me a Whirlpool trim kit. You can get a trim kit for a 27 inch or 30 inch (nominal) opening, If you are mounting the microwave over a wall oven, then get the trim kit the same width as the wall oven. You will need a shelf to mount the microwave, as it sits on rails.
