QuestionThe width of the ac is 18.5 but the minimum qindow with opening shows to be 24"...can you tell me why? Thanks Carla

- Answer Hello. You have asked a great question. That does not include the side curtains used when installed in the window. Minimum Window Opening Width 24 1/2 inches and the Maximum Window Opening Width 36 inches. Hope this helps. Geoff@GEA

QuestionI have this unit. There is a rubber drain plug in bottom of the unit. Directions say unit is more efficient with plug in and water splashed on condenser. How necessary is it for drain plug to be in and water to be in tray when unit is operating?

- Answer Its actually important for more efficient operation. The condensing side of the unit has a slinger ring that uses the condensate water to cool the hot coils. If there is no water, the unit only uses air, which results in less efficient operation. Meaning, it doesn't cool as much. This means it uses more energy as it has to run longer to get to the target temperature.

QuestionSecond post, same question bc GE is *not* actually reading the Qs here. I *HAVE* completed the process of cleaning the filter and pressing the FILTER button does not reset the filter alarm. I have emailed GE already with no response. Is this pointless?

- Answer You can use a no rinse evaporater spray on coil cleaner available at Lowe's and Home Depot. Can be used on any ac.

QuestionI know the depth of the a/c from front to back. However, what is the depth from the a/c window bar (where the window connects to the a/c) to the end/back of a/c? I have a small footprint outside of the window and need a depth between 7-8 inches.

- Answer We installed in regular wall of our Sunroom, and had no issues. I don't know what the standard/typical thickness of an outside wall is but our is not as wide as 7-8 inches.

QuestionThe Ac unit was installed in the window today. The cord barely reaches the wall socket and makes a tight pull over the corner...not exactly a perfect place for a cord to be stretched. Is it possible to use a heavy duty 3 prong to 3 prong extension cord?

QuestionAIR CONDITIONER ONLY 1 YEAR. IT DOES NOT WORK. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT COULD BE WRONG WITH IT. THE RED LIGHT WENT ON TO CLEAN THE FILTER. I CLEANED THE FILTER AND PUT IT BACK. WHEN I WENT TO TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONER THE RED LIGHT KEEPS TICKING.

QuestionI accidentally unplugged my AC without turning it off and now it will snap on for a few seconds and then turn itself off, then turn back on again, over and over. Is it completely broken or is there a way that I can reset it?
