QuestionIs the readout supposed to change the colors of the temperature displayed, when the A/C or heat is running? Is there a way to tell if the furnace or a/c is running at the moment by looking at the dial?

- Answer Yes, the large numbers indicate temperature the thermostat is set to and the colors indicate whether HVAC is on/off: white = off, orange = heat, blue = cool. As you turn the dial to set temp note the dash setting on outer screen, when HVAC runs current interior temp is displayed on outer screen moves as the temp changes until at set temp then disappears.

QuestionI have a hunting cabin when I am not there In the winter I want to maintain a temperature of 40 degrees. also if it drops below 40 will it send me an alert ?

QuestionI have a Trane setup. Auto transfers to propane tank fuel 35 degrees and below, heat pump above 35. And of course, AC as required. Will this wireless thermostat work for me? Image attached of my current thermostats wiring. Thanks!

- Answer This is not the learning thermostat. It will not adjust the scheduled temperatures automatically and everything is monitored through the app. You must set your own temperature schedule, but it will record that data of your temperature changes through the Nest app.

- Answer 4-wires are for both heating and cooling, 3-wires are for either just cooling or heating (not both). The phone app uses the internet or your home wireless network, I've adjusted temps from my work 20 miles away through my phone app.

- Answer Well, sorta'. If you get the Nest temp sensor it can go in that room and your E will base it's setting off of that sensor if you so choose. I have to manually change from the thermostat or that room sensor when I'm interested in keeping certain parts of the house cool.

QuestionI want to switch from a honeywell wifi thermostat to the nest E. Question is when there is a lost connection to the router from say a power outage or surge will the thermostat regain its connection by itself or does it or the router need to be rebooted.

- Answer You can but you won't enjoy the full benefit of the Nest. You would need to connect the two wires to the W1 and RH1. At this point it is simply working as a switch for your furnace.

- Answer It will turn on t 69. It doesn't show 1/2 degrees, only full numbers. From my own experience.

QuestionI have a 2 story home my thermostat now is in the second floor in that floor we only have the bed rooms we are always in the first floor do i have to put the new thermostat on the first floor ?

- Answer No, you don't and the E would be great for the 2nd floor since and it'll use your phone's location as whether or not to set home/away

- Answer You can still use the Nest thermostat to control your system even without Wi-Fi. - Answer Most electric fireplaces use 120V power and it is considered a high voltage system which is incompatible with Nest thermostats. Nest thermostats are compatible with low voltage 24V fireplaces.

- Answer I would call your local store and talk to the Geek Squad and ask them that very question. My recent interactions with Best Buy have been very positive and they seem eager to please. Unless you have a very old home and thermostat or the thermostat uses dual energy sources (i.e. oil and electric) it is really pretty easy to install but follow the instructions carefully and take a photo of the wiring as soon as you remove the thermostat faceplate as you will need it for the install or if you have to revert back to the original thermostat.

QuestionMy furnace is 28 years old. How can I determine if it is compatible? Can I just buy a theeminstat that I can manage remotely and not connect it to furnace but just replace what is there? Thanks
