A:Answer I had this "fake" carriage jam on my 2-year old printer. HP's help line provided sincere, well-meaning, time consuming, useless help. I spent an hour with this nice fellow as he led me thru the same steps that I had already taken using their documentation. Periodically he would place me on hold and, as best I can tell, re-read the instructions and stated over again, with multiple polite assurances that they were doing all that they could.
If you have modest capabilities at following instructions, you are likely to find little additional help is available from these nice people.
Bottom line - he said to get a new printer. I have the sense that if I could open the mysterious panels on the bottom of the printer I would find a minor mechanical blockage inside. Probably a $2.00 part.
Oh well.
