QuestionWould this laptop have enough memory for a college student?I am looking for a laptop that is good for college. I have no experience with laptops as I use a Chromebook I know nothing about hard drive or memory space and how much is necessary to have a functional experience.

- Answer The Pavillion is good for music,video,dvd and webcams,electronic book download.You want a computer with lots of Gigabytes and Office software for doing reports and automatic save if you loose power. You do not want a computer that overheats after being plugged in for a long time .YOU WANT LONG BATTERY LIFE this is essential.

QuestionIs it a mistake that you show that this is a Dual Core Processor?I was told that it was an misprint and should be a Quad Core because it is an HP Pavilion-I7

- Answer Its a Core i7 U processor, not a full Core i7 desktop processor. They have had to make some compromises to be able to run it on a laptop and at this price point. The processor is actually a dual core with hyperthreading which makes it a quad core, however its got 2 physical cores. A Core i7 for a desktop has 4 physical cores with hyper threading, which makes 8 threads. The other difference to a desktop i7 is that it has only 4 mb cache vs 8 mb on the chip for the desktop variant. For all purposes this Core i7U processor is more like a Core i5 desktop variant with i7 features. Its faster than the Core i3, but the performance metrics would be similar for the casual user. The Core i3 has 3 mb cache onboard vs 4mb of the Core i7U. Amount of Cache would make the CPU faster when it comes to crunching numbers. Hope this helps

QuestionCan I upgrade the WiFi to the faster AC standard?Can I upgrade to the faster AC WiFi standard with an external USB adaptor? I assume I should shut-off the internal radio when using the external adaptor.

- Answer Yes and Yes. I use a faster USB wifi interface. be sure to turn off the internal wifi to prevent interference.

QuestionHas anyone experienced broken webcam problems?I have had a HP I7 dv6 for 5 years, and the webcam has not worked after 2 HP returns for warranty, which is now long over. The online explanations identified a problem with the design of the hinge for the top, which pinched the webcam supply. I don't want to invest in another HP if this is a permanent problem with all laptops.

QuestionManual for the HP Pavillion i7How can a person learn a new PC when they are not too familiar with the changes being made on computers today? Is there any software or manuals that can be accessed without having to pay a fortune to get any help? It would be helpful if vendors would included that information with a new computer.

- Answer hp.com will have complete manuals for you. Its slightly annoying if you have difficulty getting online but quite simple once your online.

- Answer Yes you can change your keyboard into different country languages. Mine is set up for English and German. I can change it in a click.

- Answer Had the same issue out of the box. 1. Turn Off the WiFi with the Airplane Mode button near the backspace key 2. Get out a Network Cable & connect directly to your router/modem (you may have to run the "network troubleshooter" after that) 3. Go to the Device Manager, click the arrow next to "Network Adapters" 4. Right click on the one that has "Wi-Fi" in it's name & choose properties 5. Click the "Driver" tab, click "Update Driver" & follow the default prompts Worked on mine. If you don't know where any of those things are, just type it into the Windows Search & you should get there.

QuestionIs there a way to turn off the touchpad as neededI love this new laptop for its speed, but there are a few things missing. One is to turn off the touch pad so I can use an external mouse without accidentally moving the cursor while typing. The other is lack of LED on the keys to tell if the caps, num, or wifi is on/off. any visual cues? All these were present in my old Pavilion G7

- Answer If you go to Settings, click on Devices, then Mouse/Touchpad, and then Additional Mouse Settings at the bottom of that page. The option to disable the Touchpad will be in there. As for the LED keys, that is annoying. There's one for the mute button, why not the ones that need it?

- Answer Always depends on what type of application/game you are using. My father has been getting about 6 hours on a full charge.
