Q: QuestionDoes this store ice when not using so you can grab and go without waiting?
Asked by Sandy.
- A:Answer It stores the Ice in a basket when the basket if full it stops making ice until the ice is either emptied or used. If used at a party for instance it will just keep making ice continually as its being used. The ice will melt but the water will be recycled into more ice. I just empty it into a container in the freezer for later use.

Q: QuestionHow do you clean the back of it can you take it apart or do you just use Clorox and just rinse it out?
Asked by Cold.
This question was asked about the related product: Insignia™ - Portable Ice Maker with Auto Shut-Off - Mint
- A:Answer Thank you for your inquiry! To clean the Insignia™ Portable Ice Maker with Auto Shut-Off – Mint, you should avoid taking it apart or using harsh chemicals like Clorox bleach. Instead, start by unplugging the unit from the wall outlet. Remove the ice basket and use a soft cloth or sponge with a mild detergent mixed with warm water to gently wipe down the interior surfaces. After cleaning, rinse the inside thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue. You can then drain the water using the drain cap located at the bottom front of the unit. Dry the interior with a clean cloth or let it air dry completely before using it again. For a deeper clean, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water, letting it sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. It’s important not to submerge the unit in water or attempt to disassemble the back, as this could damage the appliance or void the warranty. Keith | Insignia Support

Q: QuestionAnyone know where I can purchase a replacement ice basket? I use the heck out of mine so much that the basket handle has cracked.
Asked by Seamus7227.
- A:Answer You can probably repair the basket using either epoxy putty sold at most hardware stores. Just take a small amount of the putty and (wearing rubber surgical gloves) mix it well. Wet the putty a bit while mixing to soften it; but small amount of water only. Mold it around the area to be repaired and let it set up. Another option is types of glue that use UV light to cure. This is only good for joining two parts. With the putty you can actually rebuild missing sections.
