A:AnswerAll front loading washer doors must be left open after the cycle so that they can dry out. I haven't had a mildew smell issue, but I can see how it could become a problem. I do try to wipe the extra moisture from around the rubber door gasket. There is a lot of water left in the soap dispenser drawer after the cycle is finished also. I'm not sure why...but have read that it is a problem.
A:AnswerYes, you can add for a certain amount of time at the beginning of the cycle. There is a light that will go off when you can no longer add items
A:AnswerThe washer does not come with hoses. I recommend stainless steel ones. Also, if you are going to buy the matching dryer with the steam option, you will need to buy another hose. The dryer comes with a 2' hose that connects to your cold water source and a "Y" splitter (one side connects to your waster and the other to your dryer). The hose that connects to the "Y" splitter and dryer is not provided. Check installation instructions at:

A:AnswerThe washer is designed for HE detergent pods and in fact states in primary pamphlet that designed for HE detergent only. There is an accompanying Secondary HE detergent pamphlet.
A:AnswerMy measure from back to front is 30 inches. BUT, allowing for plumbing connections at the rear, the front of the washer is 35 inches from the wall. This is exactly the same depth as my old drier. Not sure it will fit properly in that shallow a closet.
A:AnswerYes, always use HE ((high efficiency) detergent in a front load washer. Most front load washers recommend HE detergent and I've been using front load washers for nearly 15 years. I've used HE detergent in both of our front load washers as directed. If you use non-HE detergent you will end up with too much suds and it will take the washer MUCH longer to clear the suds and clean your clothes. Hope this helps! Good luck!

A:AnswerI purchased the Maytag washer [Model: MHW5500FW SKU: 4978236] in the past month or so. The door was reversible. My son did it for me, and it was a bit more involved than it looks. However, there are some videos on YouTube that explain how to do it. Also, if you explain to your delivery crew, they should be able to do this. When you order your machine at Best Buy, you can also ask your sales rep to request that the door be installed a certain way. Good luck!
A:AnswerMark, the Washer is a He Washer. We recommend using only He detergent. Hopefully this information is beneficial to you. Thank you for your inquiry regarding our Maytag appliances!
A:AnswerI've had this unit a few weeks now, we've run about 15 loads though. I'm very happy with quality of the wash. i have NOT had to rewash anything. I also have not had the need to do the extra rinse or use the feature where it adds extra water. Sorry i forget the name of it. But that's because we don't use it.
Many reviewers say this machine does not use enough water, that clothing come out barely damp. That is kinda true but it depends not on this machine, it actually depends on the material the clothing is made of as well as whether you did the maximum extraction or not. Some of my sons sports jerseys come out nearly dry where as my dress shirts are still plenty wet. It's because of the material the shirts are made of. My shirts hold more water so they come out more wet. Sometimes, his come out feeling almost dry.
I have also done HUGE loads of bed linens, comforters, bed spreads, etc. It all comes out wet. :)
This all said.. im pretty happy with the machine.
One thing that is an adjustment for us.. we are use to 34 minute washes... and now they take anywhere from 55 minutes to 3 HOURS! I read though it's because the machine uses so little water when compared to top loading units.
I hope this helps.
A:AnswerHi Mike, Most of the pedestals have mounting screws that match their respective washers and dryers. So they may or may not fit depending on the model.
